Enry for the show fav.me/d6jqhrj (WRC 3rd annual competition) hosted by thoroughbreds4me. Was such a cool arena, wanted to practice such unusual shading and lightning. I ran out of time, so it is quite messy if you zoom in. Therefore, don't. Will maybe upload a "better" version of this in the future. Story may be bad enlish.

Story
It rained a lot that day. Marie could barely see the car in front of hers as she drove along the highway. She was nervous, it was her very first larger scale competition with Atra. The trainings had gone well, and so had the minor contests at the training centre, but Atra was a nervous horse. Maybe he would totally freak out when it was time. And maybe he would be scared of the rain, or maybe he would be scared of the unusual arena. Marie sighed. No point in thinking of that. She focused on the road, and drove almost without thinking up to the site of the arena.
The rain almost flooded as Marie took out Atra from the trailer. He was unusually calm. Marie stroke his now soaking wet, deep black fur. All the grooming and preparation she did back home was now totally useless. She stepped backwards and looked at him. At least he was shiny, but she couldn't possibly ride him when he looked like this. Hopefully it stops raining before it's their turn. The rain had all evening, until ten.
Time is half past nine, half an hour until it's time for Marie and Atra to enter. The rain had just stopped, and it was calmly dripping from the roof of the barn in which Marie were wrapping Atra's legs. The wrappings just kept falling of his wet coat.
Never mind.
She went out on the parking lot to get Atra's saddle. It was warm. The thick fog was everywhere, and it smelled just like a rainy summer day. Marie was in a real hurry, and ran all the way to the trailer. She couldn't find the little bands for the mane, but she didn't have time for that anyway. In the barn, Atra was loudly neighing and kicking. They were the second last to enter, and Atra went crazy if he was alone. Marie hurried back to him. As she entered, Atra stopped kicking around and looked at her with pointed ears.
When finished saddling, Marie led Atra out to the arena. They still had five minutes to go. Even though there were no lights, the arena was easy to find. It shone brightly blue, and the lights spread in the easing mist. As they faced the arena, Atra stopped. He looked frightened. A flush of adrenalin went through Marie as Atra started backing off, obviously fleeing from the scary arena. There was a blur of panic in Marie's head. She couldn't make him go forwards. There was two minutes until they were supposed to be up.
Damn it!
Not knowing what else to do, Marie sat up on him. And the second she sat there he calmed down. The horse trusted her fully, and he wouldn't hurt her. Marie sighed of relief. She petted him. Not soaking wet, at least. Just very shiny. There was a voice calling to them to enter, and she gently commanded him forwards. The blue arena shone bright, seemingly even brighter than before. Maybe it was because of the surrounding darkness. A swift mist rose from the arena floor as Atra stumbling and carefully entered. Marie let go of everything in her mind, and so did Atra. This was it.
