Description A while before the "Cattanooga Cats", Hanna-Barbera made big star out of an unlikely character - Paw Rugg from "The Hillbilly Bears", famously voiced (or mumbled) by Henry Corden.

One episode that is well-remembered was "Do The Bear", where Paw is immediately made a rock star with his own song to boot. Why they didn't release this as part of an album I can't imagine - it;s very catchy and fun for its time, though it seems to foretell several other music-related cartoons to follow, including "Cattanooga Cats" and "Josie and the Pussycats".

I'd post a link to it but you know these Mods... *rolls eyes* Lookie for it on YT for memories' sake

Henry Corden was great in this but it was the three girls who sent me for a lop when I was young!!

Groovy portrait of Paw Rugg, the 60's rock star with his 1966 hit:"Do the Bear", like to see him doing the song with the Banana Splits and the Sour Grape Girls in a concert in Oxnard, California. Also like to see Paw Rugg with Mick Jaggar and the Rolling Stones do "She's a Rainbow". That'll be groovy!

Thanks muchly. Again, it pains me that they never released that song as a stand-alone single when they had the chance

Yet another HB cartoon I've yet to see...love the retro style here, not to mention your faithful take on Paw Rugg and the three foxy looking backing singers. Nice work!

Thanks again. "Hillbilly Bears" is another forgotten gem that deserves more attention that it receives. Any excuse to hear Henry Corden's ha-larious Paw Rugg mumblings XD
