CLICK TO SEE ANIMATIONAnd then tell me how I can improve
This may not work, I am having major computer problems with this. I'm hoping it'll animate on DA.
CRITIQUE!!! I know there is tonnes wrong with this, but I need exact stuff. Could you send me anything I can improve on? Thanks,
enjoy.

This is really amazing! I like the flow and the rhythm it has.
I can't wait to see more of it done!

Thanks. I'm taking a break from it at the moment because it takes so much time, but I'll try and finish it off during my up coming holidays

Animation does take a lot of time to complete, at least to have it smooth.
I do hope you finish it, but do it as you wish, based on your schedule C:

Yeah, it's satisfying though
I really want to get it finished. It will probably be finished on a late night/early morning holidays sessions

Yeah on the upbeat the fingers need to point downwards with the wrist at a higher elevation. More of that figure 8 flight motion.
Looks awesome though! I wish I had the patience for such things.

Do you mean as the wing is still rising they unfold too quickly?
I'm not really sure what you mean
Thanks, it took me over an hour and a half just to draw all the frames I was listening to some funny podcasts though, so it was cool.
As an end note, Happy Easter

Haha yeah, my explanation is rather lacking. I guess it's more like on the upbeat the wing needs to angle upward?
The mechanics of flight are so intriguing. I did find [link] as a most interesting reference.
Happy Easter to you as well!

I'm sorry but I still don't understand (is feeling stupid lol)
That's interesting, I like the two bottom images. I think they are comparing air flow.
Hmmm...interesting

Nah don't worry about it. I'm sure it'll turn out great.

Wow, I can really feel the air resistance in the wings! The animation on the wings is absolutely stunning, I can't help but watch it over and over againnnnn C:
I think more motion throughout the body would make it more dynamic, however. The position of the body should follow the movement of the wings. How would a body like that move when trying to work accurately with wings? The tail would need to be in balance, acting like somewhat of a rudder, and the head would dip into the swing of each stroke of it's wings. The body would curve with the head, and the tail would follow, everything would keep in beat C:
And I suck at critiques so if I come off rude, I'm horribly sorry D:

Lol thanks I remember an animation I saw once of a dragon in flight but it was obvious it was the downwards stroke and then reversed, so the wing moved all wrong. I was just like 'Nooooo!
' So I am trying to avoid that!
I know what you mean, I just can't figure out the right balance between movement and streamlined, because there would have to be movement but also the critter would have to remain fairly streamlined. Bah! So hard...yet so fun!
You didn't sound rude, very helpful perhaps, but not rude
And Happy Easter!

Oooh yeah, that's certainly a hard feat to accomplish! But when your done I'm pretty sure it will be perfect, you have a wonderful sense of anatomy and structure
Your welcome! And Happy Easter to you as well! <3

I would adjust the angle on the flapping motion a bit. You've got it going straight up and down. I would have it flap down and back a little to get more forward momentum, and then bring the wings back up, creating an eliptical motion.

I can see what you're saying, you're right, that would make much more sense. I shall do that! Thanks! And Happy Easter

Myuu its not fair, how can you animate flight so well xD
The down beat is lovely, the only thing I would say needs work would be the upbeat <: 3 The wing fingers travel forward and the fingers should drag backwards with the wing ... its hard to explain xD
I can show you one I did a while ago with many references if you like <: 3

Qwiven In reply to Rasa88 [2010-04-03 22:15:37 +0000 UTC]
Nur...this thing still needs a LOT of work
Do you mean travel further forwards as in to angle the stroke down?
And I'm not entirely sure what you mean by drag backwards
That'd be awesome, the internet is dismayingly bare of flight references...also, Happy Easter!

A little something like this:[link]
I didnt make this off the top of my head by the way, I used *so* many references...and bugged my sister untill she gave her opinion xD Still has problems obviously but can you see what I mean by the fingers being dragged?
They're folded and dragged that way to minimise air resistance and get their wings back as quickly as possible for the next down stroke <: D
I hope that helps and makes sense xD
Happy Easter hun!

Whoa...those wings go waaay further forwards then mine.
And no What do you mean by 'dragged'?
Hmmm...yes, I must speedify the upstroke...
Thanks for all the help!

It was understandable, which is the main point of the English language I am thinking
I'll upload it, even though it epic fails in the head and the tail and...well...all of it XD

left-blinded [2010-04-03 12:23:27 +0000 UTC]
dis very good especially the wing but u need more movement in the neck head and the tail
more swing in the tail!!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Qwiven In reply to left-blinded [2010-04-03 22:10:06 +0000 UTC]
Yes, your right. But I don't know how to have the tail moving because it has to move more, yet be streamlined for flight...hmm...a conundrum...thanks for the advice
And Happy Easter
