Description
Carthage in all his slightly scary glory.Carthage is the younger brother of Phoenicia, and was known to have squabbled with Mama Greece for many many years. That was, until a young upstart by the name of Rome started getting too big for his boots. The two were able to live side by side, almost in friendship until the day Rome sided against Carthage in an uprising on precious Carthaginian territory - Sicily. Even after the first of these Punic wars ended and alliances were resumed, uneasiness would prevail, and the two continued to clash several times in increasingly violent conflicts.
In the end it was Rome who would be victorious, dealing the blow that would end Carthage once and for all. However, Rome was not without his own damage - nearly being crushed at the hands of Carthage's champion Hannibal during the second of the wars left him somewhat traumatised. Roman senators were known to later use the phrase "Hannibal is at the gates!" when worried over a potential disaster befalling the city.
His personality is very dry and imposing, though he has a close relationship with the more friendly and outgoing Iberia, getting jealous if he sees anyone else trying to get friendly with him (especially Rome). He's an expert sailor and master of maritime affairs, with an additional penchant for using elephants in war. He was also rumoured to have been into child sacrifice. As to whether or not these were just rumours started by Rome and Mama Greece, archeological findings don't tend to argue otherwise...
Goddamn, it's hard to find consistent references for Carthaginian clothing, so this is based on what I keep seeing Hannibal depicted in.
Next up - Iberia and Britannia.

Talking about his/her OC's Iberia is supposed to be Portugal and Spain's father, and Carthage something like their uncle.

Yup, that was after the 3rd Punic War, when the Carthaginian Empire was truly defeated. The Romans burnt Carthage (the city, and origin ((in a way)) of the Carthaginian Empire)) then salted the land so nothing can grow on it ever again.

The child sacrifice part, as I believe, is just a rumor started up by Roma and Mama Greece, I think that since the child mortality rate was high, they just cremated them, and then put them in child sanctuarys. But that's my opinion on the whole matter.
Awesome pic by the way!~ I'm sooo gonna spam you by favoriting all of them! just a heads up!

I'm not sure if this counts as insulting or good-natured pop cultural referencing, but I can seriously imagine Rome and Carthage's first encounter similar to that of some other Hannibal regarding that thing with child sacrifice.
