Description
The Line of Action is actually the key to add dynamism and harmony in a pose when you draw a character; Many people, especially beginners omit this step that occurs at the very begining of the drawing process, while the fluidity of the movement and the whole pose are mainly based on this line. If I can give you an advice, and if you intend to make characters with fluid and dynamic poses then you should pay more attention on that. Unfortunately I can't really tell you more, I don't think I am a very good teacher for being honest ^^* Learn while having fun with Nono *
Some subtle jokes are smartly hidden into these drawings. Can you find them?

Nice. Not enough people emphasize the importance of the line of action, you almost never see it in tutorials on DA. This is a perfect example of how essential it is to dynamic poses.

totally get it, lol, clever. anyways, I also get the concept, if I don't focus on that line, I can't draw somehow, I lose fucus easily, so yes motion lines can draw a composition for you if you are aware of basic perspective, fold, and anatomy rules. reminds me I have to draw more... but still, awesome and thank's for posting this. like the backdrop texture for this, makes the white stand out.

Great reference! Thanks for sharing. I try to draw an action line when making bubble figures, but I've always made it run from the head to the pelvis almost like it was the spine of the character. It took this to make me realize the action line should be the general arc of the whole character.

It isn't a bad thing actually, they shouldn't be confounded but the Action Line really often follows the spine and for being honest I'm also used to do it in that way The most important thing to keep in mind is that the action applies to the whole character and as long you understand this, and that you can imagine and "feel" the line of the body you're building then you can work the way you feel comfortable.
My pleasure and thanks a lot for your comment!

I have never really doubted that you were aware of the line of action. I can see your use of it in your drawings
But the couple of sentences you're written here seems very helpful for those who are unaware or doesn't pay the line of action enough attention. The line of action is indeed very significant, and you can clearly see the difference in a pose for when it is used and when it is not.
If there is a good line of action then the drawing seems more lively and appealing.
The illustrations up here are very clear as well and the characters do have some interesting poses, but you need to be more aware of anatomy, I have seen you do better! Don't be lazy

Late reply FTW!
Well I'm glad if this tiny "course" has been able to teach something to anyone I'm surprised by how many people seem to don't be aware of that line, but this certainly became something obvious to me simply because I learnt animation. ^^
Thanks a lot again! Hey, if you ever see something which is wrong in my work don't hesitate to warn me! I'm still learning

Wooh yeah!
That's exactly what I'm thinking, I mean it's surprising that so few people aren't aware of that line... I should be careful with what I say now though, I don't always have 'dat line' in mind before I draw a pose *Cough* X'D
It is always useful in animation. I learned about it in that connection as well. Before I got in The Animation Workshop I was recommended to go to a drawing course in life drawing/croquis before the school started, and there I learned all about the line of action. It was a great course! ^^
Unfortunately I have been too late to attend the course in the summer this year... They are out of free spots *sniffle* ='{
Always welcome! *brofists*
I never see something that is "wrong" in your art, I only see something that's less right
But SURE! You can count on me! *Finds a sniper*
