Isn't sexuality who you like, not how you like them?

Can you explain it better?

I thought that somebody's sexuality was based on who they like, (guys, girls both) not at what point in a relationship you'd like them (like demisexual)

A demi-sexual is sexually attracted to someone with whom it has an emotional connection; it's still a "who", even if disconnected from sex.
Personally I consider it a "special" sexual orientation.

Huh, but isn't sexuality purely based on what sex you like?

Demisexuality is special in the way that it’s sorta between asexuality and sexuality. A demisexual usually feels little to no sexual attraction (which is why it’s under the ace umbrella), but can come to feel sexual attraction to someone if a strong emotional bond has been created.
Some people also use demisexuality with an added prefix that reveals their preferences. For example, if someone identified as say, Bi-demisexual, they can feel sexual attraction to either gender, but only after a strong emotional bond has been created.
It’s kinda complicated, but I hope I was able to clarify any questions you might have had. Hope this helped!😸

Thank you! I do realize what demisexuality is and completely support it, I just think it's a bit confusing that it's labeled as a sexuality. (But then again if it weren't that I don't know what else it would be, so oh well )

Welcome!
And yeah, it's kinda complicated and confusing. That's why it's a gray-ace sexuality. It's not as black and white as the others.

Yes, technically yes (for this I consider it "special").
But then, what's the problem? I didn't invent demixexuality, I just painted a llama
