Abilities:
Shadow magic prestidigitative and deceptive in nature. Its abilities are useful only in the arena of concealing itself and tricking slow-witted creatures.
+ Conjures bauble-like lights, usually yellow, green, white, or blue in color – which may float around it like a sparkly miasma – making it indeed look like a will-o’-the-wisp from a distance
+ Can also bend the light around it to make itself invisible
+ Can make itself appear to be something that it’s not – i.e. smallish things like a fish, rat, snake, stick, etc.

Description:
It looks just like the weasel of its patron genus – slight, slinky, and pert. This particular breed comes in dark colors. It’s big-eyed and soft-featured, face and ears round. Its limbs are short, torso and neck long, and it has a thin, brushy tail – a physique made to slink through the tunnels of its prey.
+ Coloration: Its pelt comes in shades of umber, sienna, sable, grey, chestnut, and fawn – known to have dark or lighter highlights on the ears, face, paws, belly, and/or tail. Its eyes are always shiny black or dark brown.
+ Pelt: Short and smooth with soft undercoat.
+ Length: 6-8.5” 15-21.5 cm
+ Weight: around 1/4 a pound 0.1 kg
+ Scent: strong, pungent, often unpleasant musk

Food Chain:
Carnivore – this species competes with cats for prey – eat, as it does rodents and birds and fish, just like its feline counterparts. There have been rare cases where a Swamp Weasel would make off with a kitten, but those are rare cases indeed, and rabies is probably a factor.

Behavior:
Just as its name implies, this weasel is incredibly mischievous. While it doesn’t have enough intelligence to know it ought not play tricks on things bigger than it, it is certainly clever enough to know how to do so, and for that it uses its powers. It will make itself look like a fat rabbit to taunt a cat, only to vanish into thin air seconds later after pursuit, and will create misty, alluring lights at night to attract whatever victim of prank or preying it may. More practically, it employs its abilities to lure fish, beguile rodents and make catching them easier. It also is a big fan of sleeping, and has any number of hiding places throughout its territory in which it may do so.
+ Habitat: It dwells in cold places just as easily as warm, favoring swamps and forests as a domain, and tends towards being semi-aquatic. It tends to live in places where it either has plenty of access to bird’s nests, rodent warrens, or fishing-holes. It doesn’t often dig its own den, but takes the burrows of its prey, or the occasional abandoned tree hollow. It will usually wander from one sleeping-locale to another, nomadically following its prey of choice wherever it may take him.
+ Occurrence: Western Nandryx – primarily Earth and Shadow tribe territories and in between: Nightwatch Forest, the Bog of Moving Rocks, and even sometimes around the lake.
+ Status: Uncommon
+ Activity: Nocturnal and Crepuscular, Night time or dawn and dusk
+ Feeding: Primarily rats, mice, moles, rabbits, fish, birds, eggs, and amphibians. It races through the lairs of rodents like a furry snake, lurks under tree branches and snoops through nests of birds, and on sodden logs patiently waits for aquatic creatures to pass beneath. It has a high metabolism, and so the time it doesn’t spend sleeping, it spends hunting.
+ Combat: During confrontation, it will often flash from visibility to invisibility in very nearly random intervals, using its teeth to harm an adversary; on small prey, it will go for a quick a kill-bite on the throat or spine – on larger targets, whom it is likely defending from, it will try to land a bite on any soft spot it can get a hold of and simply not let go – making it a less-than-pleasant and rather fuzzy addition to a cat’s jewelry if provoked.

Provocation:
It’s go-to plan for any truly violent confrontation is to flash into invisibility and flee. When its young or food is at stake, however, it will defend viciously – even if it means being done some mischief (or death, lol) in the process. I mean, babies and food are really important, y’know? |-D

+ Its toes are slightly webbed, allowing it to swim less terribly! Huzzah! >8D
