...This poor guy is about to be in some seriously deep trouble. I imagine that this might be the way I go, eaten by giant bugs...I had originally thought about doing a whole lot of black inkwork on the Aliens in the foreground, as if they are all peeping out of a cave entrance at our hapless naturalist who is totally distracted by his latest discovery. Instead of inking the Aliens, I'm going to do all the dark bits with color. They'll still be really dark, almost totally hidden, so that the Predator won't see 'em until it's too late.
Aliens: "Shhhhhhh! Don't giggle! He'll HEAR you!"

If this guy was me, I'd be in big, big trouble. I see a fascinating bug, and I lose all sense of self-preservation in an effort to catch it and play with it. That's what was going through my head for this picture.

I think even from the beginning of the Predator story, back when I saw the first movie, I thought of Predators as "people" rather than "monsters." I wondered what they did when they were not hunting. This is just one of many ideas I thought of along the way.

The Aliens were an afterthought in the original sketch; it might have been my sister who suggested that "wouldn't it be funny if someone was peeping over his shoulder, getting ready to scare the living hell out of him?" And I said, "OH YEAH..."
