Description
A mix between the style of Warhammer 40k boardgame and a modern artillery vehicle. The Homekeeper cannon is a massive mobile cannon, that can fire more then 30 kilometers from its target. Because its mostly used in desolated flat lands its a bit higher and bigger then a normal tank. (More internal space and useable as a watch/sniper tower.) The defensive capabilities are not very good, so it normally should be guarded by some armored units.
NR. 52 here is trying to cross a piece of Tundra known as the "Umbrageous Plains". Lets hope they can cross it undetected as the daylight is already fading.
Specs:
Modeled with Npower's "Powernurbs" (in 3ds max 7)
Renderer: Brazil
Time used: 5 weeks, 3 hours a day.
Rendertime: about 17 hours.
Polycount: unknown
Textures: Mixtures of procedurals and bitmaps. Bitmap textures made in photoshop. Some simple uvw mapping was used.
Used objects from older scenes?: Yes, the minigun is older and so are the handguns.
Comments from myself: The minigun is a lot lower quality then the other parts, I might replace it sometime. The maingoal why I created this tank was to learn the basics of Powernurbs. About every edge is filleted. (and most parts that have to resemble one part, really are one part.)
I'm currently in the top 10 of Npowersoftware's Powernurbs gallery with this image. My first work on deviantART also.

Dude, this thing looks like it shoot holes in the moon! This machine should pretty much intimidate anything even attempting geosynchronous orbit!

That gatling gun in front needs to be replaced with a heavy bolter.

Great at long range, but will it survive when a squad of main battle tanks is a few thounsand meters away?

There appears to be a 4-bbl gatling gun near the front end, with an ammo belt loaded. (Judging from the size of the ammo in comparison to the guy in the hatch, that "minigun" looks to be 30. cal. at least.) Not to mention the red-tipped things (grenade launchers?) in the front & on the turret. If the defensive capabilities of this vehicle "aren't very good", then surely you just mean against other armed vehicles? I can't see infantrymen going up against this thing successfully.
Also, I want one of your Homekeepers. This would be perfect for cruising around north Vegas.

A thought occurs to me. Without a muzzle brake, the cannon would go right through the back of the turret.
Love the detail though.

Great piece. I think a lower angle might give it a bit more of a powerful look. Also, the tracks are somewhat lost in the texture, which is a pity.
Apart from that, smashing stuff!

I could have made the Extinguisher (what a word) a bit smaller indeed. About the m4: its only there when the commander is peeking out of the hatch. Its kept in place by the 2 hooks. If I have an hour or 2 left this weekend, I will adjust both issues, and maybe replace the minigun for something else also.

wow, that is big. the only thing that i find somewhat out of place is the m4 that's just there... and maybe the extinguisher is a tiny bit too big in proportion to the solider? rest is impressive.
