Description
This was originally supposed to be posted on Halloween night. But so many things had happened during that time I didn't get around to it. I also still needed to work a bit on this more before posting it.Anyway, here is the colored version of my Gothic Queen 3 drawing (which recieved a DD, btw)!

Thank you so much!
Wow, I had no idea people were looking at my other stuff! This makes me super happy! OwO It's among my goals for people to look at my art and appreciate it, regardless if they're familiar with the content/characters or not. Color and details is my jam. I want people to look at my art and find something new to find. I know I post as fast as a snail at times, but that's because I always want to post something fresh and exciting. I'm all about that quality over quantity.

I really admire that despite everything that's going on with your life you still manage to get the time to finish this including going the extra personal mile and forsaking deadlines to satisfy yourself. Everything has a lot of thought put into it, and it's a great use of mixed media (is some of it also watercolor or is that a texture in the border? or just the original texture of the paper?) Almost looks like it's completely real media!

absolutely breathtaking I love the colors you used here, not to mention it totally has this amazing depth to it, almost like this frame grew out over a scene
Have I also mentioned I really admire how much detail you have in such things like hair? Cause I do. Her hair is amazing and all the assorted textures and details are to die for.

I had the chance to smoothly render the entirely thing, but I ultimately felt the textures added a nice touch. I'm so glad you appreciate those textures. And yaaay! So thrilled that you love the face! I spent many hours trying to convey something warm and motherly. She is, after all, the mother of all werewolves.

Yessss! I'm so happy you noticed the face! *__* That was my favorite part of the piece, in fact. I've always wanted to create a sickly, pale-cream face against cherry red eyes and lips.

Ah, wow, this is my favorite piece that you've ever done. I LOVE the colors of this piece! Soft pink, muted green, and some bridging purple.
I almost want to offer a critique on it, it's so pretty! If you just want to be done with it, that's fine, it's complete enough, but I seriously love it so much, there are some tweaks i wish I could make to it.

RadiusZero In reply to blix-it [2011-11-06 01:31:45 +0000 UTC]
Hah, I didn't say 'no'. I said I'd *consider* the critique. I really do want to hear what you have to say. I just can't promise to make those changes. Not yet anyway. In the end, I have to decide if the critique serves the art and my personal agenda for it; this as opposed to only serving the personal tastes of the reviewer.
Aw, critiques... It's a touchy subject, lol. I hope you weren't offended because I didn't say, 'Absolutely, I'll take the critique!' It's just... I know you've been in a LOT of situations before where the moment you say, 'SURE I'LL TAKE THE CRITIQUE', people suddenly expect you to address/make those changes, even if those changes may not apply toward your goals.
For me, I'd rather say 'I'll consider it' and leave the door open. At least that gives people the chance to offer their suggestions while I still maintain the right to accept/reject them without breaking promises or offending anyone.

Well you sounded pretty offended when you replied to my initial comment. :/ You didn't address that I really liked the piece.
No, I'm not going to write a critique. When I write critiques, I spend a good 30 minutes doing it, I come up with visual aids. It's way too much time to spend on a piece if the image is done and that's the end. I only offered because you said you wanted this to be really good and you were spending a lot of time to make it special.

RadiusZero In reply to blix-it [2011-11-06 02:40:50 +0000 UTC]
I really did appreciate the wonderful remarks you gave to this piece. I also know whenever you get critical on a piece that it usually means you like it very much (hah, I actually did write that part in my initial reply, but feared you would've taken that the wrong way so I deleted it). I didn't think it was neccessary to address these things, though, in my first reply since your offer for a critique said a lot.
Again, you've been in my shoes plenty of times so you know how I feel on this matter. Like you, I welcome comments, even if the image is 'done' or I never asked for critiques. However, like you too, I will make readjustments only if the critique does address something I either overlooked or enhances the goal of the piece.
That's fine. I know how in-depth your critiques are so they take a lot of time to write. Hence, why I wanted to be straight with you from the beginning. I wanted to give you the opportunity to determine whether writing a critique was worth your time or not, especially when I can't guarantee that I'll address all your issues until *after* I've read the review and determined if it applies to my piece. That's not to say I would've ignored what you wrote. Like I mentioned earlier, I just want the opportunity to accept/reject as opposed to being obligated to anything.

Honestly ... I'm just kind of disappointed. I actually *haven't* EVER been in your current shoes, having a decent artist and friend asking if I'd like help with something that's already really good. All I ever get are the shit comments forced on me that are completely unhelpful and that have no idea what I want or where I'm going with a piece and that aren't remotely helpful and usually come from idiots who know nothing at all about art.
I thought you might be more excited that I really like the piece and am excited to offer suggestions for its betterment, but that isn't how you feel.
I understand you not wanting to make any changes. Its done. The end. Good job. With or without my suggestions, your image will be well liked and popular and it will sell at shows, so none of this really matters.
