I actually made this about a year and a half ago, but am finally getting around to posting it up here in DA. This is a custom DeLorean toy I made of my personal Transformers character Raggletag. I used the insides of a Sideswipe toy for the main body, then the outer panels came from a diecast Corgi brand DeLorean toy, which my friend Jack was nice enough to cut up for me with his jewelers saw. The toy was actually the time machine version of the car, so I had to remove a lot of the time travel parts to make it look more like a stock D. Then the pieces were glued onto the Sideswipe body with super glue and hot glue.As the picture shows, the toy is still fully transformable into both modes. But unfortunately due to technical problems involving the transformation, the gullwing doors had to be glued shut.
I might go back to this one day and see if I can solve the problem, plus plug up some of the holes left over after removing parts of the original diecast car. And lastly, I might lob off the "ears" to help the toy look a bit less than Sideswipe, and more like Raggletag.

It's a DeLorean Transformer made from a die-cast Back to the Future toy. That's just pure 80's awesome and done damned beautifully.

Have you seen the StarWars/Transformers crossover figures? The ones which turn into a stormtrooper-headed robot from an AT-AT? I was hitting the floor in the toyshop.
No I won't buy I didn't like the design but it was official, not a clone of a far-eastern toy fabric.

I have a few of those in the collection, but I agree with you, they generally aren't done very well. You can tell they're not made by the same team that makes the regular TFs line. Commander Cody and the Vader Death Star are pretty decent though.

Haven't seen those. We have here very limited stock, if ever any. I have to browse the net to get news or ebay for puchasing. If I would be at a Botcon I would be losing my mind from the plenty.

Thanks, man! The reason I held out was because I thought about going back to it and making those improvements/tweaks I mentioned. But since I'm dragging my ass in doing so, I figured I'd just upload the 1.0 version for now at least.

I know how it is. I still have lots of unfinished pics I plan on completing someday and arn't uploaded. One in particular has been waiting nearly a year or more.

I have a plastic VW car and I wanted to make it to Bumblebee so I cutted it into pieces but couldn't work out how to make a transformer inner body to him... And I customised another plastic toy but that wasn't a success story either...
Lego allows works easier so I stuck there.

sideswipe was always one of my fave transformers since he looked so kool in both robot mode and car mode, but changing him up to be a delorean totally rocks too! i wonder what will happen when he evades some decepticons and hits 88 mph..

By all means, I'd love to see what you come up with!! I'm not the first person to make a DeLorean Transformer either. Check out "Steelskin", the work of a friend of mine from 2001...

wow you guys are genious. and yeah i'll still do it and all i got so many plans and if i can get blue thunder to look half as good as he is in my head it should be a cool seires. i even bought a g1 source book littered with g1 art so i could graft my favorite vehilces onto g1 style bodies.

For some reason I never really got into the show as a teen when it first aired, but got totally hooked when they started showing the reruns in the mid-90s. It ranks up there with my favorite shows of all time, and I gladly bought all three DVD sets. I could of course care less about the crappy USA Network version however...

Well USA Network picked up the show after CBS canceled it, and started up a new season in late '87. But in the new "season", they killed off Dom and (apparently) String, and brought in a new cast to pilot the helicopter. No Archangel either and not even new aerial shots!! They simply reused footage from earlier episodes for the dogfight scenes. It was clown shoes weak. Avoid at all costs.
