I actually made this about a year and a half ago, but am finally getting around to posting it up here in DA. This is a custom DeLorean toy I made of my personal Transformers character Raggletag. I used the insides of a Sideswipe toy for the main body, then the outer panels came from a diecast Corgi brand DeLorean toy, which my friend Jack was nice enough to cut up for me with his jewelers saw. The toy was actually the time machine version of the car, so I had to remove a lot of the time travel parts to make it look more like a stock D. Then the pieces were glued onto the Sideswipe body with super glue and hot glue.As the picture shows, the toy is still fully transformable into both modes. But unfortunately due to technical problems involving the transformation, the gullwing doors had to be glued shut.
I might go back to this one day and see if I can solve the problem, plus plug up some of the holes left over after removing parts of the original diecast car. And lastly, I might lob off the "ears" to help the toy look a bit less than Sideswipe, and more like Raggletag.

Just found this. Did you think about redoing with some of the transformers prime parts? Cliff Jumper has a pretty good transform and would eliminate the gull wing door issue by making them part of his arms.

I was actually considering writing a TF/Back to the Future crossover on FFnet and was trying to figure out a design for a DeLorean's robot mode when it occurred to me that other people might have thought of it too. And lo and behold, here's one right here!
Yeah, the gull-wing doors are a tricky business, aren't they? I was thinking of designing my version of a DeLorean-bot along the lines of Prowl and the other Datsuns frame-wise though. Binaltech Prowl in particular. The doors make that slightly difficult though...
Interesting how you used Sideswipe's model as a base figure. I'm amazed that you managed to make this from various disassembled parts. You said you used a jeweler's saw? Wow...
Say, do you have a back view of this model? I'm wondering how the rest of the car fits into the picture.

You say that you may "lob" off the ears. This statement doesn't make sense. You mean to say "lop."

I hear that in a way, I got some characters in a story that own a Delorean, being sci-fi in theme, all cars and stuff tend to fly, it was hard trying to design a flight mod that didnt *scream* BTTF lol

Oh man, that's awesome! If only Hasbro made had made this which I'm upset about though there was a lil crappy one made, but it doesn't compare to this. I'd do anything to have it. Would you consider selling it, lol?

Thanks for the very kind words! We have the Micromaster DeLorean too, named Swindler. He's pretty simplistic, but I think he's a pretty cool little guy. I bought an extra over the summer that I might paint up to match the real car better.
Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll hold onto the custom for now. It's not perfect, but I like having it on display near my computer here.
