Nice job! Umm that "line reflection" effect is great, especially seeing as you've done it all in C4D (reading the other posts hehe ) - Kinda low-res, but for a gift card I suppose it's good enough. Nice job m8! ^_^

the original res is 2000 pixels wide. 600 dpi

Wow. Hehe. That's pretty high res. I just scanned an image into Photoshop format, which was dumb since now the PSD is about 350 MB O.o hehe.

Well, hope to hear from you again soon, and... good luck with what's going on. ^_^

what was the dpi? and was it an 8.5x11 scan, because if it was, that explains a lot on the size.....should have did a .tif file instead, but then again, just look at it this way, it was probably smaller than a bitmap image(.bmp) as bitmap's file sizes are accounted for whats in the document, but the size of the image, even if it was just white, all white, it would still be file size consuming.

I still haven't rendered a car yet, because I forgot to put it on my to-do list. Oops. This just reminded me.

send me a note with your email address and i'll send you a low poly version of this car, though it has a crazy and looney bodykit though.

I like the reflection effect, is it post-work or all cinema4d like you do every so often...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ragingpixels In reply to grettir [2006-08-22 21:36:40 +0000 UTC]

all cinema 4d, it took a while to get it right. Though I was seriously thinking of just doing it in PS since at times I was thinking it wasnt possible in C4D. anyway later and thanks for the comment!

So how did you do it anyways? Did you add planes with semitransparency, over another reflective one, and the dark lines... How'd you solve that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ragingpixels In reply to grettir [2006-08-22 22:45:09 +0000 UTC]

sort of, its basically 2 planes, they are both the same size in length and color, but the widths are different and one of them is reflective, basically, I have a black plane on the floor, say the floor is at Y=0. the black plane is at Y=.02. I make a copy of that plane and set its placement to Y=.03, this puts it on top of the other one just slightly so that you can't really tell its on top, then I make it about 3 or 4 ticks smaller on the width so that its skinnier than the bottom one and make that one reflective. After this I make it so that none of the planes can cast shadows or be reflected by the car, as im sure you can tell if they could, it would look not so clean.

Im sorry if that was a bit confusing, if you need a video, just let me know.

Oh yes, I get the line thing. So you had many "plane-pairs" like that side by side with gaps, right?

ragingpixels In reply to grettir [2006-08-23 13:45:16 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i just grouped the two and made copies of them, separating each further and further away from the other.
