Description Broadside armament of the Japanese Memorial Ship Mikasa, a Pre-Dreadnought Battleship and veteran of the Russo-Japanese War that fought at the Battle of Tsushima Strait in 1905.  She is currently preserved as a museum ship at Mikasa Waterfront Park in Yokosuka.  Note the 6 inch guns in casemate mounts along the bottom row, and the 3 inch "12 pounders" in the top row (actually sitting on the main deck of the ship). The 3 inch guns were used to fight off enemy torpedo boats.

Cool picture!  I'm looking forward to visiting Mikasa myself sometime in the near future.

I hope you enjoy it! Depending on how the weather is, there's also a park overlooking the harbor next to the ship that'd be good for a bento box picnic.

Wow. I didn't know there were still veterans of Tshushima around. Great!

Somewhere in Russia (I'm not sure where), they have on display one of their cruisers that fought in the same battle, the Aurora.

It's on display in St Petersburg, as it fired the shot that signaled the start of the Bolshevik Revolution.

The ship it self is a veteran. The war ended 108 years ago. There would be no veterans left today.

I meant the ship as a veteran. Yes, the crew would be rather ancient!
