Description A good friend of mine quoted me in a photography project of his; I thought, given that I needed a new devID anyway, I might do the same

Random trivia: That quote was originally written in German(!) in one of my essays, about how I spend my free time. Hehe, I like it.

The MOC featured here is my selfMOC, Niyyan .

Excellent point that is. Completely accurate to be honest and I also think the same as described here too.

My skill with it is a bit limited in terms of MOC making, albeit I'm used to the Bionicle stuff and the CCBS stuff for it too. But given what you have said here, I have to agree. It's for all ages, not just kids. (besides Duplo, but yeah.) Even if Lego were to brand itself as a art form as well as a toy company, it would probably make way for more opportunities for them to expand in the near future, wouldn't it?

Sorry if my wording is a bit off. But what I am saying is you are indeed right about everything and I think even Lego should take this to heart.

I agree that lego is art too, It is the best method to make transformers/ robots, and mechs, and clay is too, but it's a bit too soft, and lego has more unique pieces that I don't think can be made out of clay.Β

I am a youth of today and I don't fail to understand that lego is for all ages, I love legos! I was actually gonna ask you where to get all your bionicle parts, since the older and original bionicle got sadly discontinued, i am unsure where to get those parts to make these, and it loosk like, that sadly, bricklink is running out of them, and only has mostly bionicle masks, so that's why I would love to buy some bionicle pieces and have unlimited access to imagination and creativity. and actually if this is posible, are ANY of your awesome bionicle creations up for sale?

Rahiden In reply to vrticus [2017-12-11 21:31:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comment I used to get bulk parts through Bricklink (axles and connectors etc) then unique pieces through new sets, though I haven't done that in years. I'm afraid none of my MOCs are for sale.

I miss the old Bionicle. Best thing that happened to me as a kid as far as Legos go. My first bionicle was most likely sold off (as my mom didn't think I was interested in it) and I forgot Bionicle. Years later, my collection is growing once more, revived by a close friend and toa brother of mine. The new bionicle was doomed to fail. Sorry, Makuta won this round. The new one was neat, but it didn't have the flare or story that was what made the original great. I love this quote, coming across it, and it's a shame that Lego seems to be falling back into the 'Lego is for kids' mentality. The day they revive the old Bionicle line....... it will be a victory over Makuta and triumph for all the Toa that have fought so hard to keep their world safe.

I agree. Lego is a sculpting art medium, a puzzle, and an engineering toy all in one.
It effectively uses both halves of one's brain for fun and creativity,
the ultimate toy that one can never outgrow.

THIS IS SO TRUE!!!!!
TAKE MY LLAMA!!!!!
Everybody in my class says lego is for stupid little kids. So I always tell them I don't play with it anymore. But actually I'm lying.
I'm still building stuff with lego (for example this: iboy98.deviantart.com/art/LEGO… ) and don't care about anybodys opinion.
Because Lego is more than toys for stupid little kids.

Rahiden In reply to iBoy98 [2013-09-22 21:59:26 +0000 UTC]

You tell them you don't play with Lego anymore? That's conforming to what is seen to be 'normal'! No, you should argue the case for Lego, stand up for what you enjoy doing, and convince everybody in your class that Lego isn't for stupid little kids. Personally, I don't go out of my way to tell people about my Lego hobby (though I certainly wouldn't deny it); instead, if the topic ever arises, I direct them to look at my gallery and then judge for themselves. That generally works.

Oh, and thanks for the watch and llama

translego2 [2013-09-16 23:34:20 +0000 UTC]

I think the reason why so many teens see Lego as a kids thing is that they only ever saw it as what it is, not what it's meant to be. Many of them probably remember playing with it as a kid, but they filed in their memory as a "kid's" item, much like some other toy brands. Me? I never really stopped. In fact, for one of my classes, we had to bring in something special to us. I brought in the Takua Mask that my best friend gave to me years ago, back when he stopped. To me, part of it represents the friendship, another represents that sometimes you are destined for greatness. Yes, my parents have told me from time to time to "put the toys away," but I see them as part of who I am.

Rahiden In reply to translego2 [2013-09-17 20:43:22 +0000 UTC]

You're right - a lot of people these days have assigned the 'toy' description to any and all Lego, leaving them unable to see it as anything else. I'm glad that Lego holds such a special place in your heart. I hope that it continues to do so for the future!
