EDIT 3.02.08:// [ FAQ ]Q: Where do you buy paper star strips?
A: You can for sure buy paper strips at any Korean stationery store. You can probably even buy online? If you really can't find them, however, you can make your own; 15 x 1 cm paper strips.
Q: Help! I'm stuck! I don't get this?
A: Basically you're trying to use up the whole entire strip of paper until it runs out. What you're basically doing is this: take a flap, fold it over. Take the other flap, fold it over. Take the other flap, fold that... Tuck them under whenever you can as shown in step 4. Good luck!
OMG HUGE FILE D:
I sort of made a mistake by making this tutorial with those paper strips -.-;; I've always used 15 x 1 cm paper strips to make paper stars but these new ones are like... 19 x 1 cm D: If you use 15 x 1 cm paper strips, you do NOT need to cut! It should be perfect and you should be able to use it all :> I didn't know this but the new paper strips I've bought are strips used for both paper stars and paper hearts x_x;; oi.
Not the best tutorial out there...
probably one of the worst, rofl.
I never take requests--ever! But this is the one time I've fallen for it D: Ohnoes! Dx
GOOD LUCK!
Look forward to ANOTHER tutorial soon!! <3<3
For what? D: It's a secret! >:[

i tried and i think i did it(after a few tries...)
is it supposed to have a concave side, or is the whole thing supposed to puff out? mine has a side that's pushed in and one that looks right.

No concave side--the finish product of the star should look 3D :]

Practice makes perfect! :]
Usually the pinches won't work right if the folds were too tight or too loose. Try experimenting ^^

You can find them at almost every asian stationery store. Or you can print and make your own ^^ (just make sure you print it on computer paper that's not too heavy)

One of my friends returned from visiting her dad in Taiwan and brought a TON of the paper and taught me to make the stars. She's trying to reach 1000 (I think she actually reached her goal already, actually).
Cool tutorial! The pliers are a good idea. @_@ I should do that next time. (I can't pinch the paper well.)

RainCookie In reply to Geegabyte [2009-05-03 01:08:53 +0000 UTC]
It's probably cheapter over at Taiwan/Korea since that's generally where the papers are made. It can be so overpriced where I live :[ (sometimes up to $3)
Yeah. Just make sure you don't squeeze the pliers too hard and make the corners too flat (and if you do, just puff it back a little)

If you have a lot of paper left on one side, but end up "running out" of paper to fold, try starting the next strip of off-centered by a little ^^ It sometimes matters where you start the pentagon.
(You can also start the pentagon waaay on the left or right side of the strip)

This is the best tutorial I've ever read! A picture for each steps and in-betweens really have helped me a lot! But... It's so tiny! I almost flattened it... while inflating it. >_>;; Good thing I have nails. XD

RainCookie In reply to Luminot [2009-04-24 19:40:26 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! :]
Just try to be careful while you're folding it. Make it tight, but don't make it too tight, since it'll be hard to inflate :]
Happy folding!

>.> i was wondering if i could ask you for help. i was doing the tutorial, and i do everything right, (i used several different tutorails) and for somereason...they come out all flat. they don't poof. do you know why?
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
RainCookie In reply to mimixchu [2009-03-22 22:57:55 +0000 UTC]
The most common problem is that it's folded either too loose or too tight. Usually when mine doesn't puff, it's because I folded it too tightly :c

I spend 10 minutes folding my first star and then when I got to the end it didn't puff out. D;
It's folded pretty snugly, am I folding it too tight?
