Description
Monk in the UnderdarkPlayers Handbook 3 chapter start artwork; Dungeons & Dragons. Β©Wizards of the Coast
Acrylic, Approx 21" x 19".
Original Artwork for sale; Β£1500
The Kuo-Toa were no match for the Monk and her Psionic companion, but the Aboleth rising from the depths might be another matter...
I always enjoy painting fight scenes with multiple figures, and showing the monk and her psionic companion kicking ass was great fun. Typically though I like to throw in a cliffhanger, will-they-wont-they, impending moment, and i think the beastie in the background does juts that.
To help provide focus on the figures I used the slanting light light, along with strong contrast between the saturated colour of the figures and the monochromatic desaturated environment.

You do great work. I've noticed Wizard's is pulling out all the stops when it comes to production value in their 4th edition books. Very beautiful artwork, like much of your stuff featured on deviantArt, is present.

I'm in awe every time You post something new on here, truly I am.
And I would like to buy an original from You once I get a larger place to house all the art and medieval weaponry and armor I have stashed away now

wonderful, absolutely wonderful.
The under-dark was always a rather intriguing place to set campaigns. Since its the most Love-craft inspired one. Old Gods,Illithids, Beholders and gigantic tunneler worms. Its like a DND candy-store! And you did a wonderful job of capturing just how scary it a Dungeon Master could make it.

You are so correct on the cliffhanger.
Great storytelling!
