Beyond a Charmbound SkyPreface & Prologue
Written for ~doraneirok - A kinder, more wonderful individual you could never meet, for the world would divide by zero and implode.
You showed me a window, now let me open the door for you.
A while ago, Doran drew me an image of Idrin Starpaw - [link] - which I created a world and hstory around, presenting him with an encyclopedia style description of various aspects of the "universe behind the picture". I always promised that there was a story behind the picture, and I've finally made good on that promise.
This is the first part of that story, a ten part novel-length work which I recently gave to Doran and am now posting here for all to enjoy. I will post each new chapter every couple of days, something I can guarantee given that they are already complete!
In this preface and prologue we meet the character within the picture that Doran drew, and learn of his tragic condition, and the sorry state of his world. I hope you enjoy it!

I decided to take a look at this since you were kind enough to look at mine. Well I say this proloue was great. Very well written and imaginative. Though I do wonder what you could have found good about mine, since yours looks like a far more creative work. I am not sure when I will get to the rest as I read plenty of other thigns outside DA. Still I liked what I read. BTw I hope I didn't overload by dumping all of the chapters of Journeyman Shaman I have uploaded thus far. And there is more after that believe it or not.
One question I do wonder is how would my dragon character Medina function in your dragon filled world?

I really appreciate your comments, I'm glad you find it creative and well written. From a writer of your calibre that really means something to me. And I'm not saying that to be nice, I really mean that.
For me, I was a little concerned about the strength of my characters, and in your work that is one of the really stand out points for me, that your characters feel so alive and colourful. I hope that, if you do read further, you'll give me your opinion on that point. I would say, if anything, my work is just different to yours, not necessarily better at all.
Don't worry about Journeyman Shaman - I was going to drip it in a few chapters a day, but our founder was happy enough to accept it all in one go, so no problems! If anything, we should be thanking you for supporting the group, so... thanks so much for supporting the group!!
It's an interesting question you pose. I like Medina, but given the relative scarcity of resources on Ethereas given its condition, I think she might struggle a bit! What's your opinion - she's your character, after all!

Mm, well that might be a problem - the resource crisis on Ethereas extends to food as well. I'm not too sure she'd enjoy it all that much!
I don't think it is a stretch at all. From what I've seen so far, you certainly have talent! You know, it's really important to aim to improve and see where you could have done better in your work, but it is every bit as important to look at what you've done and appreciate its strengths. You're really good at the first bit there, but not very good at all at the second bit!
Just for a moment, stop looking at the mistakes and look at what you think you did well. Let me give you a helping hand to start: Your characters are wonderful, your settings are vibrant. You do these things well!! And, looking at the response to some of your writing, I'm not the only one who agrees.
