Nearly fifty years ago (1973, to be more specific), Canadian journalist Gordon Sinclair shared his views of the Americans (at the time) in an editorial piece simply titled "The Americans." (The transcript of the complete editorial appears in the Congressional Record.) Mr. Sinclair defends Americans (of the mid to late 20th Century) as "the most generous and possibly least appreciated people on all thee planet," and gives concrete examples to back up his words. I, as an American, think it's time we speak up for our northern brothers: in the days following the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001, Canadian airports generously allowed flights to and across America to land on their tarmacs and offered the passengers on those flights Canadian hospitality while they were waiting to resume of conclude their journeys.
