Description
I wouldn't normally sculpt a realistic octopus but a friend of mine who designed my website wanted to trade for her services and said she loved Octopus so I sculpted my version. There's hundreds of different octopus sculpted hundreds of ways but here's my version. The first one will be cast in resin and then attached to the top of a keepsake box. I'm also going to be casting them in bronze and making a door knocker out of it. It measures 11.5 inches long, 5.5 inches wide, and 3 inches high. Hope you like it!Related content

Me too...they are an amazing creature. She seems to like the sculpt. Didn't seem ecstatic over it though which is always a little disappointing.
Oh well...there's other people that really love it (enough to have it in bronze) ...so that's all that matters.

Wonderful, and the door knocker idea is even more so!Β If ever you want a less realistic octopus, you can always take inspiration from Paul the Psychic Cephalopod:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_theβ¦

No worries!Β FYI, I didn't mean you sculpting Paul specifically, just that the idea of a psychic octopus (with a crystal ball, cards, what have you) would be fun and more along your usual, whimsical lines.Β That's all

Thank you so much Patrick!
I really had fun with this piece. It was a challenge to get that weight and feel of it.

So delicate, so slimy. I bet if I tilt my screen, that thing is just going to slide off the table.

Thanks Tiia! It was a challenge to get that Octopus feel to the piece. Never sculpted one before so I was a little intimidated at first.

I really wish I could sculpt like you. Every single thing you do is exceptional! How many hours did you put into this beauty?

Thank you Chris...you are too kind!
This one was a challenge since I've never sculpted an octopus before.
I think I put a total of about 30 hours in to it? Maybe a little more.
Thanks again!
All my best,
Take care

Thanks so much!
It's sculpted out of a harder wax and I used a little hot iron tool to melt little individual drops over most of it.
Then I came back and knocked down the bumps with a sculpting tool.
Thanks again!
Take care
