"Wee! I'm Waldo, the Spirit of 3D!"

Today, May 16, 2021, marks the 30th Anniversary of the opening of Muppet*Vision 3D, one of my favorite Walt Disney World attractions. And there was no way I could let an occasion that combines Disney parks and Muppets pass me by without making a model to celebrate! Doing otherwise would be distinctly unpatriotic.

To commemorate Muppet*Vision 3D specifically, the obvious choice was to make Waldo C. Graphic, a character originally created for the short lived Jim Henson Hour television series to demonstrate digital puppetry. Though he seems like a character who would be destined to fade into obscurity, Waldo's inexplicable starring role in Muppet*Vision 3D has allowed him to entertain (and/or traumatize) audiences for three decades, far outliving most of his other Jim Henson Hour costars.

My model of Waldo is just over five inches tall alone, and ten inches tall including the stand. It turned out to be a lot of fun making all the little parts and pieces of him look like they were properly floating. Waldo's looking ready to cause some 3D mayhem! For your own safety, please keep your heads down and grip the arm rests firmly!
