How to paint long silky fur, as opposed to long fluffy fur or short fur lol

Keep in mind that i'm definitely not a professional, i gave this my best shot though

1. Lay down a darker color and with a thin pen, sketch out the rough shape of the fur. Fur generally shows in layers and rows (don't make it too mechanical though)

2. With a very pressure-sensitive brush, lay out some lighter strands of fur following your sketch. (strands, not individual hairs)

3. with a thinner, darker brush, add shadows between the strands. Try to make the strands look 3-D by having a consistent light source and shade.

4. With a thin painterly brush, add some smaller hair lines to the strands. Use both lighter and darker colors as necessary to add more shading and details.

5. With a very thin brush, add some fine hair strands.

6. You can also add some stray hairs that don't stick to any strands. Be careful not to overdo this, though.
