Description
Local hairy man and long otter spotted on the hunt - fish be warnedMore practise that turned into a picture. Mountain/water/tree's/layering background vegetation - threw in a doodle of Kotsu I had and tried to make something of it. Unfortunately now I have snow on one side of the river and none on the other... makes no sense but it was fun.
When fishing with river dogs more often than not the dog will swim to it's owner with a catch/for a break when they're too far from the shore - they're really close to it here meaning Kotsu's river dog is being clingy, which isn't surprising, he'd spoil the crap out of them.
I drew that tail at a dramatic angle and didn't see a problem with it until it was inked/flat coloured, decided to leave it as it is. Meerkat tails pull some funny angles, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
Thanks for looking!
(anyone else having problems with DA today?)
(I have no idea what DA is doing, sorry please forgive the update but I think I actually have it loading now so... you can see it... haha DA why)

Wow! It's a definitely good practice. I'm glad you work on backgrounds, you created so wonderful landscape here, detailed (flowers, butterflies, weeds, reflections, oh my) and nicely matching the style you use for drawing characters. And the mountain looks so realistic
. You've got a good combination of lineart and painting technique

I love this one. It really feels like a still photo from real life. Snow in the bg and not the foreground is relatively normal in mountain areas where the mountains have snow all year round. This could be in the north of Sweden

Beautiful! Gosh every piece you make is just, leaps and bounds better than the last *3* And your backgrounds! They feel so alive ;; I keep coming back and staring at them
And honestly I cannot get over how aesthetically pleasing Kotsu's face is.
I like the interaction with the river dog, too ♥ Makes me wonder how much scrambling was involved in them getting there and him getting them to stay still :'D

Was that type of dog in some sort of novel of the film or what as I've never seen it before. P. S amazing picture.

Oh they're not actually dogs, just in this world they are, doesn't make much sense - I know! I'm not the best at explaining it. They're based on ambulocetus and pakicetus appearance wise!
This is their 'species sheet' if you're interested - thank you very much! Glad you like it!

Another impressive piece! I already hoped to see some kind of interaction with the riverdogs as soon as you released the bio-sheet of them. I love the clingy aspect (if well domesticated) or the "using the owner as resting place" since those are so typical traits for otters and general mustelids that are somewhat tamed.
Also, that foliage with that backdrop is breathtaking! And don't worry too much because of the patch of snow. There are several real life locations that have similar phenomena. [Ref 1] [Ref 2] [Ref 3] . Spring in the mountains can do such things so technically this is not wrong. Plus, if you feel like it would fit you can make it work. It's your worldbuilding after all
Also I have to unfortunately agree. Deviantart is acting up a lot in the last days :[

Thank you very much! Aw haha I'm glad I could deliver in that case! Otters are so cheeky, I really wanted to capture that sort of behaviour in these guys so I'm really pleased you like it!
Thank you! Oooh oh that's good to know! I had no idea, you know what the silly thing is? After saving those images you linked into my background inspiration folder I found a couple others like them... derp! I'm going to say that my subconscious knew what it was doing while I didn't have a clue! That's a good point too! Thank you again! <: D
Seems fixed now at least, so strange! Some images just wouldn't load at all - funnily enough though they did on mobile!

Happens XD Sometimes it only needs one linked image and suddenly there is a whole new world of references.
Such landscapes pretty common in my homecountry so maybe my search is delivering images a but faster thanks to that?
The benefits of creating and developing your own worlds. If one reeeeally wants something to work there are plenty of ways to make it work :]
