Thank you! One of your models, maybe the one you talk about, was hugely useful for it, more than any tutorial. I spent a lot of time studying it. Besides all your admirable work!

Of course
im flattered that you studied one of my models, though it's probably not the same one because the one i mentioned was in my sketchup warehouse account.

is the mech held up by something to make it go forward or is it all leg powered?

The model that Iยดm talking about is the B-45 Hornet.
It's leg powered for the forward impulse and for the jump on every step, but I set gravity to a low value, combined with a couple of hinges, to make the servos work properly, to fall after every jump and to keep an straight path. And a gyro to keep an upright position.

oh i guess it is the same one then. Yours turned out significantly better than mine, i eventually gave up trying to make it as controllable as i initially hope for, i think i would be able to do it if i had the ability to assign keys to certain servos (i think they have that in the newer version?) anyways, i'm glad my model was helpful

I gived it up for several times, mainly because of the same thing.
Now I'm working on a bit controlable one (just turn right and left) using a thruster that also replaces the hinges and leaves the gravity work at all. Hope to upload it soon

jeeze, i would love to see it, will you upload another short video on DA?

I uploaded it on Sketchup warehouse, but it still needs a lot of work. Here is the link:

And another animation I'm working on:

it only has sketchup 7 and not 8 ='(
nice animation though, i like the helicopter

Thanks.
A new one uploaded, this time with 8, and Sketckyphysics 3.2

Hope you enjoy it

Very nice, that works perfectly.

Thanks ! Hope to not alter the weights too much with further modeling work ...it would be hateful to set again every element XDDD

Cool! Looks like it is in Moon surface

It's because I didn't spent enough time editing. hope to fix for the next update. Thank you!

Oh no, its quite cool! I imagine a mecha race in moon surface, would be awesome!

Maybe a good background for the next update. Thank you!

Knowing Sketchyphysics, I'll bet that hose accounts for 10-20% of the processing requirement of this sequence.

You can download it (linked below the image) and check it by yourself 100% Sketchyphysics

Very nice, but it still needs a bit more practice in animating.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

raskayu77 In reply to MrRobotov [2012-02-23 21:29:23 +0000 UTC]

thank you! I want to finish modeling before further work on animation, because gravity value and servos movement depends on model weight.

MrRobotov In reply to raskayu77 [2012-02-24 00:28:33 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that's truth, but you create great 3D models and I believe that you can do the same with animating them.

Mkt777 [2012-02-22 10:41:53 +0000 UTC]

That kinda' looks like he's running on Ice. It needs more "Step"

Also I see artifacting... What's going on there?!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

raskayu77 In reply to Mkt777 [2012-02-22 10:52:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm still working on improving the running cicle. The artifacting you see is something that sometimes happens with shadows. Something that doesn't work properly with sketchup :S
