Description
The Gender Conundrum...hmm...Look cluttered and messy? That's the point I'm trying to make. Look again. There's a lot of symbolism in this piece if you really LOOK. Why does society need to make it so difficult? Can't we all just simply be who and what we are?
So, I'm physically a female, but, outside of that, I feel equally male and female. I choose to wear both men's and women's clothing, and act the part of either, depending on my mood. That is my right, my choice, and should be the right of every living thing on this planet, regardless of gender or sex. Amen!

This kind of reminds me of Shingyoku (first boss from the first Touhou game).

LOVE IT!
Why do people put so much stock into gender roles and stereotypes?

It's been a tradition for too long--something along the line of stereotyping, but, not quite. It's been a part of history since the beginning of time. But, it's time to move on to new things, new ideas, and new lifestyles. I just don't agree with government sticking their noses into the privacy of an individual's bedroom and sexual activities--unless something is non-consensual, of course. It irks me through and through, and I'm straighter than a board, so, it really shouldn't be an issue with me; except that, if we're going to honor and preach about "Equal rights," it has to be for everybody--regardless of the situation. Bottom line.

AMEN! To all of that. Especially the parts about equal rights and government staying out of our personal lives. Equal rights is just another phrase when the same protections offered to straight people aren't offered to gays.

You're right on! When it comes right down to these issues, I believe that ignorance is the real issue.

That's my whole problem with the yin-yang symbol. I agree with harmony, coexistence, and all that - but there's more than two ways of being.
Good work.

I absolutely love this. So completely and totally true. The twisting words fit the confusion of not fitting into the specific gender labels, and the black and white show the distinction between the two typical "boxes" as you say. I completely and totally agree with this, I'm bigendered myself and this is definitely a big thing for me. I appreciate someone making something that symbolizes this. <3

Your comment makes me feel so good. It's interesting, as I go through the process of creating one of my pro-active pieces, how people will interpret what I've made. So, yes, the cramping into the forms that I depicted reflects the state of our society's problem. You understand it so very well. That made my day! Thank you so much!

I must have a superfantastic reading disorder or something, because my eyes let me twist around the words and read them as a straight sentence.
I love the symbolism, the whole confusing, cluttered either/or thing. Since either/or doesn't work for a large number of people. I like how the colors are a bit mixed and spread over each other, it's sort of like that "masculine/feminine" aspects thing.

Very well done. Great use of the yin yang symbol, esp since it works so well with the overall issue of "black and white" gender labelling in our society.

Hey, you totally get the concept. There is so much symbolism that I've expressed here. Which, now that I think of it, I was going to include that in my comment, but, I forgot. I'll have to go back and add it. Thanks for your wonderful comment. Big hugsies to you!
