-WARNING: MENTIONS OF PARENTAL ABUSE AND ALCHOLIC ABUSE-

Silas was born in Newcastle, Australia.  He grew up with a younger sister Ruby who often followed him around and who saw him as her hero as Silas always tried to do the right thing.  Silas’s parents were physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive to him and his sister. Because of this, the two often tried to avoid going home but always found themselves back with their parents who would put on an act in public.

Silas always tried to protect his sister even taking some of her abuse from their parents when he could and would step in if she was being bullied at school.  Silas liked to see the good in people and would use violence as a last resort if a peaceful solution couldn’t be found.  One day when he came home, he saw his sister covered in bruises and crying quietly in her room.  Angry that he hadn’t been there to help her he began compiling evidence against his parents and when he had everything, he needed he anonymously sent it to the authorities.  His parents were arrested and he and his sister went to live with their Uncle George.

After high school, Silas enlisted in the army and eventually joined the Special Air Service Regiment.  Serving his country proudly and eventually joined a tactical assault group specializing in counter-terrorism until leaving the army at 22 and moving to the United States after receiving a letter from Ruby asking that he join her in Gotham.  He had always known she wanted to move to the United States and was happy to go with her.  The letter also revealed that their mother Pearl had murdered their father and was part of why Ruby went to Gotham because she wanted to get as far away from their past as possible and start over.

When he arrived in Gotham Silas immediately applied for dual citizenship and entered the Gotham Police Academy.  He eventually joined the GCPD Swat Team at the age of 25.  When asked his opinion on Batman Silas expressed his distrust of vigilantes since they take the law into their own hands and create some of the villains they fight against.  This opinion was further reinforced when attempting to manage a hostage situation he discovered Ruby was one of the hostages.  He saw Batman arrive and when it was all over, he looked for his sister only to discover to his horror that she had been killed.

Ruby’s death broke Silas and he began ignoring friends and colleagues.  One night while out drinking he was knocked unconscious and when he woke up, he was tied to a chair with a gun to his head.  Keeping his eyes on the ground he waited for death but was saved by Batman.  Angry at this he watched as one of the thugs that had tied him up regained consciousness and grabbed his gun trying to shoot Batman.  The Dark Knight dodged the gunfire and subdued the criminal again but had not anticipated Silas.  Looking back in horror Batman saw Silas on the ground bleeding.  The shoots had managed to hit Silas in the head.  Batman rushed to the provide aide and left an injured Silas at the hospital.

Silas survived and when he was able to go home his hatred for Batman grew to a new level.  Feeling powerless in a city that he only wanted to make safer Silas decided he would strike at what he believed truly made Gotham the way it was.  Batman.  He began keeping track of everything about Batman and his allies but knew if he was going to succeed, he would need an arsenal and training to take on Batman.  Over some time, Silas robbed transport trucks from Wayne Enterprise and when he had everything, he needed he went to T.O. Morrow to convince him to perform surgery on him.  Morrow was not convinced at first but when Silas told him Professor Ivo could do a better job with his request Morrow stopped him and agreed to perform the surgery.

Returning to Gotham now a cyborg he began putting his plan into motion and on the anniversary of Ruby’s death, he made his debut as Sentinel.  Each year, on her death anniversary, Sentinel would capture a woman who looked like his sister and taunt The Dark Knight before escaping.

Cybernetics: Over fifty percent of Silas’s body was replaced by cybernetic parts.

Arms – His arms provide him with super strength and house several weapons and equipment such as a machine gun, grappling hooks, laser canons, blades, sonic disruptors, and electromagnetic pulse cannons.

Legs – His legs are cybernetic up to his thighs and allow Silas to jump higher and run faster and further than most humans.

Torso – His upper body has armor plating to protect what vital organs are left and allows him to take hits from superpowered beings as well as survive falls from great heights essentially making him a walking tank.  The organs that he had replaced with inorganic parts are his heart, lungs, ribcage, and spine which allow him to breathe in places humans can’t and help him survive hostile environments.  His torso also has a built-in defibrillator and can camouflage him by bending the light around him to become invisible.

Head & Eyes – His head has the same armor plating as his torso.  Silas’s eyes are both cybernetic and allow him to see through walls, scan/track people and objects, and protect him from bright lights that could temporarily blind a person.  The final ability his eyes have is a social enhancer that can analyze the mental state of an individual and detect if someone is lying or telling the truth.  Silas also had sunglasses installed which act as a shield from debris and conceal his identity.
