Description
I've always loved the Klingon bat-leth. (I have one hanging up on the wall in my studio.) While I know that the bat'leth is an ancient weapon, I always thought that there was an opportunity to update this weapon and give it a high-tech sci-fi dimension to it.So, this is the Power Bat'leth. It can work like a regular bat'leth, but it is improved with a number of technical advances. Made of tri-tanium, it never corrodes and keeps its edge longer than any other metal. It's lightweight, but heavy enough to work as the bat'leth is intended. In addition, it incorporates a number of high-tech non-lethal capabilities that just make it a little more "Trekky."
So, in my headcanon, Worf and Geordi are having lunch together on 10-Forward one day, talking about Worf's bat'leth training, and Geordi says, "You guys should make a bat'leth that emits an energy field. That way, you could train with those things without having to worry about killing anybody." Worf adds, "That's a good idea, but if there is no pain, there is no point to it." Geordi add, "Yeah, but you could have the energy field deliver a mild shock whenever you made contact (like you get from a containment field), so you'd have your pain." Worf: "How much pain?" Geordi: "Well, I don't know. It would be adjustable, I guess. You could have just a little zap for when you are training. . ." Worf: "And a stronger stun, like a pain stick, for actual combat. . ." Geordi: "I suppose it could even deliver a stun that could knock out your adversary, if you wanted to capture them alive. Come to think of it, having a non-lethal setting for a bat'leth would go a long way toward making them an acceptable weapon in the Federation." Worf: "Do you think it could project a defensive personal shield for ship boardings?" Geordi: "Sure, I don't see why not. . ." Simultaneously, they see the upside to their idea, and from that moment, they go on to design, engineer, and build the Power Bat'leth. It's a great project for the two friends to work on together, combining their interests and expertise.

I love the concept, but doubt any Klingon would want to shock absorbing grips as that would isolated the wielder from the blade and the satisfaction of combat.

Hello:
This is quite an interesting idea! I never really thought of that possibility (I wonder how many would actually have). The small control panels between the handles are a nice touch to adjust the settings and those are in actual safe places on the weapon

Incredible Artwork!!!
Maybe Worf and Geordi over a glass of Prune juice could now work together, combine their interests and expertise to design the Power Mek'leth .
