NOTE: Star Wars Resistance, season one Spoiler Alert! Read no further if you don't want a detail from Season 1 to be revealed.
By the way, did any of you who watch Star Wars Resistance find the defeat (and presumed death) of Major Elrik Vonreg to be oddly anti-climactic? It was like they had spent the entire season building up this impressive villainous Red Baron character, (which was a pretty cool idea) and then in the climactic episode where he is finally defeated, they just sort of glossed over it. I guess they were trying to not be morbid on a kid's show, but at some point, they need to admit to themselves that this show is about war and combat. Plus, if they didn't want to dwell on the character's mortality, then they didn't have to kill him off. They could have just had him eject and survive to fight another day. "Curses! Foiled again!" That would have been fine with me. Who knows, maybe they downplayed it because he did survive, . . . but it sure didn't look like it.

Yeah, it was extremely disappointing to see him gone so early. I was so interested in learning more about him, and to see him further demonstrate his skills as an elite tie fighter pilot.

Yeah, he could have been part of a whole elite squadron, filled with interesting characters that we could have learned about. Or he could have been part of the "Red Fury" Legion, or something. It certainly feels like a missed opportunity that ended in kind of an anti-climactic way.

good job. you really captured the feeling of fast motion with the Tie Interceptor. by the way I don't know if you've found out already, but they just released the trailer for the second half of season one of resistance and the show is renewed for a second season io9.gizmodo.com/star-wars-resi…

Thanks for the nice comment and the link! That's a pretty promising looking trailer! It looks like the second half of the season is going to have a lot more edge to it, which, I think, would be a big step in the right direction.

To reference an excellent LucasArts game, I think at least one dogfight in Star Wars should have this theme playing.

Here's some info on the music I mean. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqY06x…
The motif shows up whenever the antagonists the Nemesis Squadron do.
The special forces already have the colour scheme.

People REALLY hate it. They hate it because of the art style and the tuned town violence for a younger audience. I like it because it shows the galaxy when no one’s really fighting each other. Yes, there’s the Resistance vs First Order, but that’s not really mainstream. It’s mainly racing, spying, hanging out, and secret missions. If you haven’t seen it yet, at least give it a try.

I love some of the ship designs in Star Wars Resistance. A brand new advanced T-85 X-Wing, and a cool new TIE Interceptor! What's not to love about that? So I try to render some of them here in a more realistic style than what we see in the show. (I also like that the show is available without having to pay for streaming TV access.) I know that a lot of people don't like the new look of the show. (Most of my friends hate it.) While I certainly prefer the rendering style of Clone Wars and Rebels, I can deal with the new anime-inspired look. (It does take some getting used to. And I think that it's hard for fans to adjust from the more advanced rendering style of Rebels to the relatively simpler style of Resistance.) And I'm OK with the peace-time premise of the show. I just wish that the main character (a fully trained adult X-Wing pilot) wasn't written to be so emotionally immature. I would get it if he was a teenager, or tween. But this guy is supposed to be a fully-trained experienced X-Wing pilot on a serious espionage mission. I suppose that they are doing that to appeal to kids, but I don't think that's a good strategy. It's never a good idea to talk down to an audience, and that is what this looks like. They should have either made him a bumbling tween, or made him an adult X-Wing pilot. The two don't really go together. Besides, there are plenty of mature adults on this show. Casting the main hero as an immature accident-prone bumbler (especially when set in stark contrast to serious-minded villains) doesn't strike me as either funny or entertaining. I don't think that makes him approachable or appealing. It just sort of makes him look like an idiot. I think they need to start writing his character differently if they want this show to succeed. Sadly, I think it may be too late. They've probably already lost a huge portion of the fan base, and it would be difficult, if not impossible, to win most of these folks back at this point.
