I saw Maleficent on Wednesday and I actually really liked it, though it's gotten a lot of bad reviews D: I don't know, I was never a huge fan of Sleeping Beauty so I didn't get attached to Maleficent as a purely evil character, I guess. There indeed was a couple of plotholes and not so well written characters but overall I think the movie was beautiful!I am so happy Disney is apparently for real ditching the idea that tru luv can just exist between a man and a woman who have known each other for a day haha
Anywayss I've pretty much only seen fanart of Maleficent but not of Aurora and Aurora is cute so I felt like drawing her as a practice for realistic-ish style~
also on a side note, it's summer holidays and such I have time on my hands and I'm probs opening commissions within a day

I haven't read any reviews, but I saw it yesterday and oh god. I was so in love with the entire movie. I was probably too busy swooning over some things to notice plot holes in others, because it felt seamless to me XD
Personally I've always loved villains more than protagonists. Maleficent, Harley Quinn, Doctor Facilier/The Shadow Man, all that jazz. So I was fiercely drooling the whole movie, getting to see a film with a protagonist villain. Someone who was evil and badass and sought to disrupt the peace--but who we're all rooting for.
XD Look at me, give me a comment box and I'll chew someone's ear off. This is a lovely piece, though. You're very talented :3 In the movie the fact that Aurora's eyebrows were so sharply out of uniform with her hair didn't really sit right with me--though I get that they were trying for a certain look, like the White Queen in Burton's Alice in Wonderland. I just don't think they got away with it XD But you drew it very fluidly

Hahaha :'D Agree, movies with protagonist villains are cool! I really liked the fact that they gave her evilness a reason. I mean srsly reviewers wtf why do you want a villain to be evil just for the sake of being evil, that is boring and been seen so many times. Great that there are other people who loved the movie though!

XD Yeah. Maleficent's life story was so god damn juicy, I just ate that shit up. I have a winged character who also got one of his wings cut off by someone he thought he felt softly for, so I was hardcore into that plot twist. And all I could think of the whole movie was how badly I wanted to pursue a couples cosplay with me and my boyfriend of Maleficent and Diaval XD Seriously my boyfriend would make a perfect Diaval. But he said he'd only do it if I could make him Diaval's horse form Q-Q I'm about 82% sure he's joking and I can still convince him though. He puts up with me so well.
Some scenes she was adorable, but others--due to lighting, costuming, or for whatever other reason--it just looked messy to me XD I dunno. I also couldn't stop thinking about how uncannily she looked like this girl I've known for a huge chunk of my life, and we were initially friends but recently she's just been irritating, so it was hard to look past that in Elle Fanning XD I'm terrible like that.
Once I realized the similarity was in her nose, though, I could just kinda... not look at her nose and not think about the chick I know every time I see her :'D

Oh jeez he'd jump on that. He's silly. He'd wear that mask every day of his life. I'd never hear the end of it.
And he does. He does want to be the crow.
His sense of humor often involved being childishly difficult. It's endearing in a subtly annoying way :'D But I love him to pieces, wouldn't trade him for the world.
Buuuut he can't be the crow because I'm not building a staff that a full grown man can crouch on top of like an awkward gargoyle just so he can have his jollies cawing fiercely and people and flapping his hands like gimpy little chicken wings.
Nope, it's human form Diaval for him. Which honestly is a fairly simple costume. I'm almost positive I could force him into it even if he's not currently wholly on board yet XD He's a good sport. Besides, he hasn't seen the movie yet--when he has, he might be a big enough fan to dive on that cosplay :'D

Nah, if we do the cosplay, I'd be the one making the costumes. He's not exactly a seamstress. That being said, I'd probably force him into just the human Diaval look--muuuuch easier than some friggin crow fursuit.
