Boo yah for the beer train! Wish you could see more of it, though. Ah well.
Just a side note for the fans, the new club layout is well underway at our new home, and it will be better than before!

They are getting kicked out of the building they were in. Long story shortened, the owner sold new owner decided he would like to use the space so they got the boot.
Kinda sad.

The detail is wonderful here and lucky you, shooting for MR..I'll have to show this one to my hubby. He's working on a layout in sections in his little workroom at our house and he's got a good eye for detail. Love the angle and the glint of the lights.

If you husband doesn't know who Joe Fugate is he should really check his videos out. His last two of 5 really go into great ways to making your layout look real. He has got tips for everything from start to finish. His page is [link]
His HO Siskiyou Line is a master piece.
Thanks again.
PS
I have a layout I shot in the Great Model Railroader magazine coming out this fall. It is of the Keddie Wye in California. The owner was a little strange and didn't want some of the pictures my wife and I thought were winners but he still is going to be in the GMR so go figure.
I would show everyone here his layout I shot but he doesn't want them out for public viewing and he doesn't want anyone to know where he is from. He works for the BNSF and he really needs to lighten up. I will most likely post them after the magazine has be released. Then you'll see a few better shots that should have been used.

Having been around model railroaders for all of 17 years, I know how quirky they can be..ya got your rivet counters and on the other hand you have the ones who do it for the sheer enjoyment of it. My hubby subscribes to the Dream Plan Build series, perhaps he's involved in those videos? He loves the series and has quite a few of them...me I like watching the real trains...with my camera of course but he just loves to get his hands on his engines..lol..I'll look for Mr. Fugate but i'm sure my hubby will know who you mean. I'll also look for the magazine when it comes out..I'll be able to point to the shots and say, hey I know him!

I don't think I could operate one of these layouts if my life depended on it

Mainly all the switches and stuff I'll probably end up causing a multiple train wreck. Probably by switching two or more trains on the same track by accident.
But I've never messed with a complex train layout before so I don't know too much about operating one.

Yes I have had many wrecks of my own running my basement layout.

How do you control so many sets.

Do the signals work off track occupancy or by power being drawn from the rails?

Well both, everyone is to have wheels that have resisters in them to draw current. Since models require power from the rails there are only two ways for occupancy to work, IR and current draw. This layout is DCC so there is power to the rails at all times so current draw is the best method for this layout. They are thinking of installing the Digitrax SE8C Signaling System for the next layout.
Occupancy detection is required for any signaling system to function.
