Description
The Aquatics were a race of water-breathing cephalopods whose empire may have existed between 6.5 and 2.9 million BCE, and whose extent might have spanned an eighth of the galaxy. All that remains of this great race of beings are their artifacts - the Stargates, Communications Nexi, Automated Foundries and other installations whose purpose continues to elude us. What became of them? We do not know. All we know is that we can use what they have left behind - as the Heavysets and the Tallboys before us did, before they too vanished from the galaxy.

Coming up with a wormhole mechanism and rendering it was a challenge, especially in light of the stunning effects on display in the film Interstellar. Regrettably, Kerkythea and my poor desktop lack the capacity to even approach such light bending effects, so I went with a combination of high specularity, reflectivity, and an inner sphere with a dark blue luminosity, plus a spherical sky background to have something other than the geometry to reflect.
