Description A close-up of the Drop Pod cargo rig for the Sojourner. I still have a bit more detail to add, but this is a good idea of what the final version will look like.

A couple of questions.

Why are the pods arraigned 'lineraly' along the spine? For acceleration purposes?

And not 'radialy'. I would think you could pack more in y having them nose in to the ships spine and 'staggered' "Orange box" style as they 'circle' the hull.

Plus, by just spinning the ship they would then get a little centripetal interior force and be able to be 'thrown' off a lot quicker when the time came to 'drop' them?

Just some musings.

Cheers!

They are arranged in this way for two reasons - primarily due to keeping the cargo within the pods aligned correctly with respect to acceleration forces, and also because they must use the existing coupling system on the spine so that the ship can swap out its cargo configuration easily.
