|| First Percy Jackson reader insert! ^v^
I hope you guys enjoy this, leave a fave and comment, and follow for more! I tried to make this as original and exciting as I could. Sorry that there isn't a ton of action until the ending part. Just know that in the next chapter there'll be a ton more exciting stuff!
I gotta write this in, or else I'll feel like I'm taking their ideas - thank you to for the ideas on what to do for my story! It gave me a huge burst of ideas and inspiration, so I tip my hat to you, sir~

You hated school.
You hated all your teachers.
You hated your fellow classmates, the way they would watch you from their desks at lunch, the way you just know that they were talking about you.
And being a 16 year old girl in high school, whenever you got mad people always accused you of being on your period, laughing to themselves afterwards.
Your school was one of the places that most closely resembled hell to you.
Just being in your classroom was something that even bugged you. You could never really read properly, all of the words seeming to be jumping around the page. Dyslexia was something that effected you greatly in your everyday life.
Those at your school with Dyslexia (which was you and only you) were branded off as lazy, dumb, careless, immature, "not trying hard enough," or having a "behavior problem."
None of this was you, though.
You were generally a good student.
The teachers that you had often said these things to the substitutes that come in. They warn them that you are "hard to work with" and a "trouble maker."
But your homeroom teacher was the worst of all.
Her name was Ms. Stephenson.
Tall, skinny woman with barely any skin on her bones, and thin dulling blonde hair that was slowly turning to grey. Her eyes were beady and reminded you of bird's eyes. They seemed to watch you wherever you went. She was creepy, and you just hated her, the way she always judged you and rolled her eyes when you just couldn't solve a math problem, or just couldn't read something properly.
Coincidentally, today was one of those days. A three page writing assignment. All of which you just couldn't bring yourself to understand. You mentally cursed at the words, wanting them to finally make sense, but of course, that never happened.
After what seemed like hours of trying to decipher this unreadable ancient text, your head was just hurting too much. It seemed like Ms. Stephenson knew this, reading the expression on your face.
"(Y/n) (L/n), go take a drink at the water fountain." Her raspy voice muttered as she glanced up at you from her desk.
A loud sigh of relief escaped your throat as you jumped up.
Maybe a bit too quick.
When you suddenly and quickly jumped up, your whole desk came crashing down onto the floor, which followed by an eerie silence as everyone watched you.
"Uh... sorry."
With that, you bolted out the door, not even caring to pick your desk back up.
Little did you know, another person stood up, and was following you, a grin spread across her wrinkly face.
Fortunately, the closest water fountain was quite far away, a few floors down, giving you time to take a breather and relax. It was painful to be in this school, having to work so hard just to understand a sentence.
As you strolled down the hallway, taking in deep and relaxing breaths, you couldn't help but feel like someone was watching you. It was a weird feeling, the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, an uncomfortable sensation. You didn't like it. You turned your head to glance behind you, and noticed something.. odd.
A tall figure, resembling your teacher was standing about thirty paces back, but she looked different. Her back seemed to be hunched more, and her arms looked puffier, like she was being inflated.
You couldn't see for sure, but you were guessing she was grinning.
It was a very sickening sight to see.
You shudder, turning away from the woman. Maybe she was bringing someone into the hall for talking through the test.
As you made your way to the doors to the stairway, however, you turned and noticed something that made your stomach sink.
Ms. Stephenson was much closer now, and was staring directly at you.
Her shirt had completely puffed up, and ripped, but no skin was showing. No, she didn't even have hands. Now, in place where her arms should have been, were fluffing black, hideous wings. Her mouth opened as a loud screech emitted from the disgusting hole.
Well, that explained the bird-like eyes.
You stumbled backwards and onto the wall, your (e/c) eyes locked on her pitch black ones. You couldn't move, your body betraying you in your one time of need.
Another screech, and you snapped out of it.
You turned and pushed open the doors to the stairwell, jumping down five stairs at a time as you rounded the corner and did the same thing. You heard the loud fluttering of wings and yet another screech, knowing she wasn't far behind.
As you turned the corner, your eyes met with a pair of sea green ones, just before you smashed into the boy on the stairs. Luckily there was only a few stairs left, and neither of you were hurt. He groaned as he attempted to stand up, immediately turning to look at you. Another boy was behind him, holding crutches with a worried expression.
"Woah Percy, you okay?" His voice asked, obvious concern layered in it.
"I'm fine.." 'Percy' replied, his voice smoother.
The two turned their attention on you, the frightened girl who had just fallen down the stairs. Well, way to make a great first impression, reader.
"Are you alright-?" The taller boy started to say. You didn't have time to answer. You could hear that thing coming down the stairs, and it would be on you at any second.
You turned and bolted out the other door, as fast as possible. "Hey, wait-!" Percy shouted, confusion written across his face. His friend watched as you left, and then looked towards where you had come from. Why had you run away so fast? What was up there that-
"Uhh, Percy.. We gotta move!"
The boy grabbed Percy by his collar and dragged him after you, a small confused shout coming out of the other.
Just as they darted out of sight, the Harpy teacher flew down the stairs and into the wall, snarling and roaring in anger. "Grover- Was that a Harpy?" Percy asked with wide eyes to his friend, to which he nodded. "What is a Harpy doing in this school?!"
Percy had just tried to get a normal school year.
One without monsters or dragons or beasts trying to eat him.
"I don't know, but it's coming after that girl!"
