Description
There in the dark, in the quiet beyond the light, dwells the greedy, grasping thing which waits. You cannot run from it and you cannot hide from it, for it is chained to your mind
This poster was created using the default skull and hands which are available in the Poser4 library but because of the texturing and post-production airbrushing which were preformed they bear little resemblance to their original appearance.
The intial setup and rendering were preformed using Bryce4, with the Poser models being imported.
The horns are composed of terrain forms, which were quite crude, full of artifacts and harsh angles- but this was solved through extensive post-production airbrushing which essentially resulted in a complete recreation of them.
The lighting consists of about a half dozen Ranged Radial Lights to establish the rough illumination scheme which was modified afterwards by post-production airbrushing.
Comments and suggestions are welcome.

I love this, Its so real and lifelike! I'd love to see this on a background of sorts. Perhaps in the doorway of a castle drawbridge, or covering the entrance to a dragons cave. Its really incredible work!

The airbrushing work alone must have taken forever, seeing the WIP for this I can appreciate the effort. I do agree that a little darker on the bg would help this peice, perhaps some sort of atmosphere too to make it even more creepy than it is already.
Very good efforts.

i still think this would've been cool with a face just behind the chains. like a shaman. can't fault the technique tho. this is near-flawless.

really strong work here. The marrying of the animal and human forms was very sucessfull and really creates an interesting image.
The lighting is generally good, particularly around the hands, but I think it gets a little flat in the background. Because of the way the hands come out of the darkness I really think that further 'back' in the image (behind the character) should be almost completely dark.
It seems just a little bit contradictory at the moment, especially because the BG has no texture, I think it should be totally black (because in my mind expects some object [like a wall] to be shown if light is cast).
Very good work though reality.

hmmm surprised that hasnt had more faves etc, anyways, the textures used for everythign are kickass, them hands just freak me out, its like theyw ant to grab me and tear me in, the whole image just has that not qute dark feel, i think maybe a slight adjustment of light settings just to get it perfect would be great, however i still love this just the way it is, beautiful piece

i honestly feel you could explore the negative space in this picture more. your work is normally so rich in detail in both the fore and back ground, this piece seems almost spartan?

This is definately an awesome render. I like how it seems to come out from the darkness. Very ominous and creepy. It didn't look all that spectacular in the thumbnail, but as soon as I opened it up in full view, I realized how detailed it really is.
Great job on this one mate.
Keep up the excellent work
