Description This is part of an art trade for I kinda went overboard... Again... But I eluded the evil Adobe dragon that kept closing out if I didn't save every 2-5 minutes. (So you could say I got a lot of practice. And that's why this took so incr3edibly long.)

But this is an illustration for "Hope and Chance," one of my absolute favorite Atlantis fanfics, and one of my favorite scenes from it. Call me a sucker for depicting action scenes. "Hope and Chance" is the story of the Journal Expedition in 1911. Here's a link to the story: [link]

Man, I want a tablet. Thank the Lord for the polygon tool!!!

So why the different shadowing? Because Elements has the burn and dodge tools that are so fun to play with... Amazing what experiments do.

Medium: Adobe Elements 2.0, Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.1

Lol, thanks. It took a while, but I learned a better technique for doing the dreaded rocks.

Holy cow! That's great! Looks like all the time you put into it paid off^^ It's such a dramatic picture, well done! The lava looks cool---I mean hot!! LOL.

Lol, thank you very much! (Actually, it's amazing what happens when you put a "frame" around a picture. Makes it look nice, somehow. I was suddenly more satisfied when I did that. )

Thank goodness for screencaptures and children's books, my reference for the background. The rocks still look kinda flat, though. (They're lit from so many directions!)

The angles are awesome, and that's not to mention the colours! The characters have been marvellously drawn, and there's so much activity, it's great!

As I said, Awesome beyond words! Truly, you really outdid yourself. You really caputed the energy and intensity with those colors, not to mention the staging and the lighting. Just absolutely incredible work. You have no idea how happy this makes me

Now I just have to finish your's It was already next on my list, but it just got bumped to 'A #1 priority'

ooohhh, very dramatic angle and so well done! The lava looks great, too and the stones...gee, must've taken very long.
I'd share my tablet with you, in fact you'd use it so much better *g*.
the pinkish shadows on Helga's face really make her look as if it takes a lot of effort to climb up there Great color choice, going well with the lava all around.
but you forgot to write the title to the deviation up there, one can't click on that msg one gets when someone adds sth....

Rebmakash In reply to isolde [2004-07-11 09:06:51 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much!

The shadowing and pinkish glows are all a result of the burn tool set on midtone. I had a lot of fun with it, and it's so easy to use.

Lol, thanks, but I'm not sure about that, since, well, I'd actualy have to get USED to the tablet first. It would be a heck of a useful tool, though! A friend told me it's possible to get really cheap ones. I think I'm gonna try one, even if that means that I'll be wasting some money on something that wil break soon. I'll have to think on it.

Oh, well, I know what happened with the title. That's gonna be changed right now. *Blush*
