I planned to finish this meme some months ago but I couldn't make the new version look right. To be honest, I spent so many hours drawing and correcting the same parts that my eyes hurt now, seriously X______________X ;;;;.But back to the picture...
Improvement memes are very motivating and inspiring. I love looking at other people's entries. I decided to make a new version f my 'Bonds of Death' pic because I couldn't stand looking at this lame shading and clothes;;;; (not to mention lame skulls). Well, there's still a lot of things for me to learn and improve but I already started enjoying playing with light and colour. I need more practice of course. I just wish my bishies drawing skills improved faster :___:.

I prefer it because of the authentic stile. It looks a bit like a picture of a old tale. The new one looks like many other pictures of a mangy boy with wings... hard to discribe in english

Ok. Thanks for your explanation :]. My drawing style is still changing and now I'm concentrated on improving my skills in shading, lighting, surface response etc. When I look at my old drawing, I notice a simplicity, lack of cohesion in lighting. Therefore, I'm not happy with the old one.

The improvement of this amazing! I mean, everything, the style, the idea, the drawing, the shading. The newer version is a lot more sophisicated and edgy as well, which suits the image better. Well done!

Z tym zielynm kolorem to jeszcze pokombinuję bo jak widze innym ludziom też się podoba : ). Zebrałam trochę opinii więc mamobraz tego, co jest ok a co można jeszcze poprawić. Wtedy jak już wszystko będzie dopracowane to puszcze duża wersję.

Wow this is awesome O: As people said, the lighting is much better! Including better choice of scenery, depth of field from the background and frontal chains and the colours and subject stands out more even with the not so colourful image~ Excellent!

the mouth, eyes, expression, hair, skull, hands are drawn better. Clothes are more classy and better looking, wings are better, and I really like how the character pops out more now instead of blending in with the background, and in my opinion the composition is better too ♥

I think the one you made in 2008 was already really good, but the one in 2012 really ads a lot of depth how you master the shadows and light!

i absoulutly love the new drawing! you really did improve and the shading and lighting is great! I do however feel that the newer drawing is too monochrome, i liked the warmer shades in the original more. :# none the less great work

Thanks for the comment. I was wondering if I should stick to the original colors in the new version but I felt tempted to try something new. However, I'm very happy to hear all the different opinions here. They will help me to improve this drawing. Thank you very much!

Almost the whole picture was made in 2012. I started drawing the new version in July or August.

It's because my fetish is men in suits, I love white shirt, ties, you know the elegant feeling. That's why I decided to change his old clothes. Plus, in 2008 I didn't know anything about men clothes so I randomly drew anything that came to my mind.

How did you learn to shade so good? I'm trying so hard to learn but I don't find anything useful

The key is to study color and light theory. Back in 2008 I believed that black can be shaded only with grey, that red should be shaded with its own darker color etc. But the truth is that we should experiment with colors, mix them differently and pay attention how the colors are perceived in different surroundings. Also, I learnt on internet about light, diffusion, key light, low light etc. I read some blogs for photographs and for 3D artists. I studied carefully some photos with different lighting.
