Description

“Hello, Barry. My name is Chronos.”

In the dark void that enveloped Barry Allen, the Flash, a man clad in silver and dark green approached him. He was floating atop a simple flight platform shaped like a clockface, and he had an hourglass-shaped symbol upon his chest. After telling his name, Chronos told Barry that he has an arrangement that he’d like to make. Instantly, Flash attacked Chronos, but his command over time allowed him to dodge his attack and blast him back. With Chronos victorious, he held Barry in a stasis beam. Chronos said to Barry that he’d like to help Barry with reversing the latest crisis and defeating Brainiac before it could infect any of the Justice League with its assimilation nanotechnology. When asked how, Chronos revealed a small, but powerful, fraction of his time-control technology, and the dark void became the sight of the Mt. Vesuvius eruption in ancient Pompeii. Not an illusion or a projection, but the real disaster. Before the smoke, ash, and lava could quickly reach the two, Chronos took them out of that period of time and back to the darkness. Chronos explained that he was born in the era of the 31st Century and has existed for centuries after, the technology he possesses making him a fixed point in time. He could exist at any time and anywhere in the universe. He has no true motive, only want for whatever crosses his mind. If he wants to, he could have prevented the origins of all of the heroes of Earth, but he didn’t. He simply does what he pleases. That includes disguising himself as ‘God’, creating solid-light holograms of John Kent’s (Superman I’s) deceased wives, and bringing Connor Kent, elder son of Superman I and brother of Superman II (Clark Kent), into our era from the future as a member of the Kent family. Truly realizing Chronos’ ability, Barry agreed to not attack him and Chronos released him from stasis. Chronos told Barry that he simply wants Flash to simply ‘look the other way’ if the Justice League or any other heroes try to interfere with his affairs. Barry agreed to this and Chronos and the void vanished. When Barry came to, it was 24-hours before the Brainiac crisis happened. He still managed to stop the hostage situation he already handled in the previous version of the timeline, but immediately ran to the Arizona deserts to find the JL, already there. In the caves where they were led to believe that Brainiac would be, they found nothing. Brainiac was gone. Superman concluded that the sinister AI must have sensed them coming and escaped. The JL left the cave, but Barry soon enough received a secret message from Chronos, saying he warped Brainiac and its technology to primordial Earth, where it was swallowed up by the planet-wide magmatic surface. Now Barry must hold up his end of the bargain...
