Description

The heroes of Earth are under assault. Wherever they go, no matter how hard they fight, the villainous members of The Society are always seemingly one step ahead of them. The first to be taken off the board was most of the members of the Justice League, the strongest hero team in the world. Infected with an artificially-engineered disease called Cobalt Blue, one that only targets their specific DNA sequences, the JL were now too weak to fight and at death’s door. The only members of the team not infected were Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, who managed to shuttle their team to their Watchtower satellite for safety. After that, Blue and Gold got the message that other hero teams and independent heroes were under attack. This includes, but is not limited to, Power Girl (cousin of JL co-leader Superman), the Shadowpact, the Doom Patrol, and… The Titans. Shortly before the Society infected the Justice League with Cobalt Blue, other members of the Titans were out on patrol or responding to other emergencies, leaving at their HQ Nightwing, the former leader of the Titans, along with Wonder Girl, Beast Boy, Static, and Jericho. Soon enough, Nightwing got a call from Blue Beetle that the JL were attacked and in critical condition. When the other Titans started mobilizing to respond to this, explosions rocked their headquarters. They got to their motor pool, where the explosions were concentrated, and were soon enough attacked by five villains. Their leader, the Clock King, introduced himself and his teammates as The Terror Titans, consisting of Dreadbolt, Zookeeper, Osiris, and... Rose? Though unable to speak, due to his crippled voice box, Joseph “Jericho” Wilson recognized the girl with the eyepatch as his twin sister Rose Wilson. The Terror Titans attacked, and a massive fight was underway. Using his keen intellect and superhuman sense of timing, Clock King managed to dodge all of Nightwing’s attacks, and even get some good blows in. Dreadbolt, who has similar powers to Static, battled him and managed to even damage part of Static’s powersuit, the source of his electromagnetic abilities. Zookeeper, whom Beast Boy recognized as a scientist working for The Shredder, an enemy of the Titans’ allies The Ninja Turtles, attacked BB with stronger animal-shapeshifting powers than his own. Osiris, wielding magic powers similar to the independent hero called The Marvel, went face-to-face with Wonder Girl. And as for Rose, Jericho was unable to communicate with her, nor was he able to possess her via eye contact due to her missing an eye now. Rose, angry at her brothers Joseph and Tim for abandoning her, even since the ugliness that caused their family to separate and led their father Slade to becoming the assassin Deathstroke. However, Nightwing managed to defeat Clock King in time (no pun intended) to step up to Jericho’s aide. Nightwing was the first to learn that the Justice League was dying, so he told her that their older brother Tim, now a hero and JL member called The Robin, was dying due to the Society’s trap. Rose called him a liar and swung her sword at him. Nightwing managed to draw Rose to their communication center and there, as she was about to drop the killing blow to Nightwing, she saw a video feed of Tim Drake, formerly Tim Wilson, on his possible deathbed. Struck by what she truly saw, Rose was dumbfounded. Beast Boy was tossed into the room by Zookeeper, now with fang-like puncture wounds to his neck, and Zookeeper goaded Rose to kill Nightwing. Realizing that the Society is about to kill her big brother Tim, and convinced her to kill her twin Joseph, Rose threw her sword at Zookeeper’s chest and pressed a secret button on her person that detonated the handle. It could have killed Zookeeper, but his unexploded arm transformed into a purple snake that still carried his consciousness and it slithered away. Rose pulled out a combat staff and helped Nightwing up, and together they finally defeated Clock King, Osiris, and Dreadbolt. With the Terror Titans defeated and captured, save for Zookeeper, Rose collapsed in her brother Jericho’s arms, tearfully begging for forgiveness. Jericho forgave her, but there was no time to waste. They split up to find their other Titan teammates and rescue them from the Society’s villains. Once the Titans reunited, Raven, their leader, asked what was happening. Nightwing gave her the lowdown and they started coordinating with Blue Beetle and Booster Gold to help their fellow heroes. Rose decided to work with the Titans to make up for what she attempted to do, and even agreed to share the secret location of The Society’s headquarters with them.

Notes:

* The Clock King, real name: Temple Fugate, was chosen by The Light themselves to lead the Terror Titans against the Titans.

* Rose Wilson has enhanced strength, stamina, durability, and agility due to infusing herself with Venom, a mutagenic steroid created by and stolen from Naga Naga, leader of the terrorist organization Kobra.

** She lost her right eye when she stabbed herself in the eye with a syringe of the Venom. Her father also has his right eye missing.

** Her costume is black and orange, patterned after her father Deathstroke’s mask, to show her commitment to surpass her father.

* Dreadbolt, aka Terry Bolatinsky, is a genetic metahuman with electric powers, though not as magnetic as the powers wielded by Static.

* Amon Tomaz, the great nephew of Adrianna Tomaz-Faruuk (the wife of the wizard Adam Faruuk and formerly the magic hero Isis), was given a shard of the crystalline matrix of SHAZAM by The Light. By saying the codeword “Shazam!”, Amon transforms into Osiris, which he named himself (after the Egyptian God of the Dead).

* Dr. Samuel Register, the Zookeeper, was a black-market scientist who was working for the Shredder when he was defeated by the combined efforts of the Ninja Turtles and the Titans. Beast Boy tossed a barrel of mutagenic ooze that splashed on Register, which mutated him into what we see today.

** Zookeeper has similar animalistic shapechanging powers to BB, but stronger.

** Zookeeper blames Beast Boy for what happened to him.
