Some time ago, Cori “Starfire” Antunez, a member of the corporate-owned superhero team called Infinity Inc., discovered that the President and CEO of their corporate sponsor Prometheus Corp., William MacIntyre, had created The Monarch, the supervillain that they’ve been fighting and defeating time and time again. MacIntyre realized that she learned this and knocked out Starfire from behind when she found his secret computer files. Cori awoke in a prison system in an unknown location. She was strapped to the wall, with a steady stream of the suppressant to the Everyman System that gave her powers feeding into her blood stream. In cells next to her were her Geoforce, who was supposed to be completely depowered and extradited back to his home country for his crimes, and Katana, a Yakuza assassin who failed to kill MacIntyre. Cori’s elder sister, Cami Antunez, approached Cori in her cell and said she was contacted by MacIntyre to replace her if she ever needed to be replaced. She was also give a similar power set to Starfire, using the Everyman system, and given the codename Blackfire. Cori demanded to know why MacIntyre is doing any of this. Cami didn’t know or care. All she wanted was Cori ‘back in her hands and at her mercy’. Later that week, MacIntyre himself met with the remaining Infinity Inc. team at thei NYC corporate headquarters and provided a deep-fake video showing Cori describing a personal situation she needs to take care of, so she’s gotten a replacement member of the team. That’s when MacIntyre presented “Starfire’s older sister, Blackfire.” Blackfire came out to meet the team… and that’s when Beast Boy, a member of the team, attacked Blackfire in a gorilla form! Power Girl and Cyborg held Beast Boy back and demanded to know why he’s attacking Blackfire, as Captain Atom and Firestorm got between them. After morphing back into human form, Beast Boy yelled that Cami Antunez had abused and molested her younger sister Cori and their little brother for years, and there is no way that Cori would want her back in her life, let alone ask her to replace her on the team. All eyes turned towards MacIntyre and Blackfire, even the Cyborg Jake Johnson’s, and he’s supposed to be the closest ally of MacIntyre. MacIntyre turned to Cami and asked why she failed to mention this. Cami panicked and outed MacIntyre as Cori’s kidnapper, claiming she’s in the lowest sub-basement of their NYC corporate building in a prison cell! Jake, disillusioned with William’s betrayal of their team and their friendship, demanded to know why he’s done this. Before MacIntyre could say anything, a massive blob of brown ooze shot out through the air ducts, knocked out Blackfire, and engulfed MacIntyre. The blob spoke with a voice claiming to be their missing member Sondra “Looker” Fuller, demanding to know why she cannot transform back into her normal human form! Power Girl talked down Sondra and explained that MacIntyre betrayed them all and they all want answers. The group made their way to the sub-basement and found the cells. They freed Cori, along with Katana and Geoforce. They discovered that MacIntyre was working with The Monarch this whole time, reaping glory and applause for defeating him and his forces. MacIntyre, trapped in Sondra’s clay-like mass, managed to press a button on his hidden Omnitrix gauntlet and free himself, solidifying and shattering Sondra with flame blasts. He switched to super-speed and made his escape; Power Girl got close to him, but he pressed a button on his person that permanently disabled her immunity to Krypton gas and activated subdermal implants that injected the element into her body, crippling her. MacIntyre escaped, along with Blackfire. Meanwhile, at The Watchtower, Batman convened with The Justice League about the final computer file he stole from Prometheus. It was but a minute before it would finally decode, when they got a call from Cyborg. Informing them of what MacIntyre has done, Cyborg asked for their help to find MacIntyre and stop whatever he’s up to. The JL was also informed about Power Girl’s condition, so they flew to the Prometheus building. Using his heat vision, Superman cut out the subdermal implants that were injuring Power Girl and saved her life. Power Girl recovered quickly, and tearfully confessed to Supes that she really is his long-lost niece Kara, who ran away. Superman forgave her and asked for her forgiveness for how he treated her. Back to the matter at hand, the Justice League, Infinity Inc., Geoforce, and Katana watched as the final file decoded. The file displayed a low-orbit weapons platform that would distribute vaporized Everyman chemicals into the entirety of the Earth’s atmosphere, mutating every human and animal on Earth into super-powered metabeings! The Justice League realized the threat of this and began collecting a larger team of superheroes to find and combat MacIntyre's plan...
