Description

On the planet Oa, home planet of the Green Lantern Corps (one of the six Corps that make up the Spectrum Lantern Alliance), Kyle Rayner, one of the newest human Lantern Agents from Space Sector 2814, continues his training under Kilowog, the Green Lantern drill sergeant. After he gained his Lantern abilities with no Lantern Device conduit, due to the machinations of The Syndicate, a team of extremist vigilantes from Earth that wanted a pseudo-Lantern army to conquer the universe, Kyle agreed to join the SLA on his own accord. His girlfriend, Alex Dewitt, was already a Green Lantern when they met and a member of the super hero team called The Justice League. As Kyle continued his training this day, a ship was seen speeding uncontrollably into Oan airspace. Kyle saw this and caught it in a giant baseball mitt construct made with his powers and safely lowered it to the ground. Other Green Lanterns and their Corps’ leader, Guardian Ganthet, surrounded the ship, and then its hatch exploded open! An alien man with metallic silver skin and hair stepped out, carrying the disabled body of a spider-like machine. The silver man surrendered to the Lanterns, and started explaining that his people need help.

His name is Major Valyor Zmeck, a soldier in the military of his home planet Irnathia. His people have been fighting a losing war against The Locrix, a techno-organic hivemind race bent on the subjugation of the Irnathian people. Valyor enlisted in Project: Silver Shield, which fused his body to a metal called Dilustel, which grants him enhanced abilities and powers. He was attacked by Locrix infiltrators onboard his ship which caused him to crash land on Oa. Major Valyor asked for help from the Spectrum Lanterns, and Ganthet took Major Valyor and Kyle to confer with the other Guardians. In the end, they agreed to send Kyle to Irnathia to assist in the war against the Locrix. Afterwards, they will open talks with the Irnathian governing council, The Quorum, to set up a Lantern outpost.

With Major Valyor’s ship repaired, he and Kyle traveled to Irnathia, taking back the Locrix corpses for examination. They met with Major Valyor’s team, which includes the Major’s second-in-command Myall. In conversation, Myall jokingly called Valyor by his nickname, “Major Force”, and he loudly told her to shut up. This got Kyle a tad suspicious and he asked Myall why he’s called that. She explained that he’s absolutely dangerous and ruthless on the battlefield, and he despises that nickname. Valyor later briefed his team and Kyle Rayner on “Sentien”, the home planet of the Locrix. There is a central computer terminal that controls a 1/4 of all Locrix drones, and the other 3/4s are controlled by terminals hidden on other planets. But taking Sentien and its terminal alone will sufficiently cripple the Locrix enough so that the Irnathian military can defeat the rest of them, no problem.

Kyle and Major Valyor’s team took to space, en route to Sentien. Once they reached the planet, they landed in a forest that was safely away from Locrix defenses and one day’s travel by foot to the terminal when carrying the eradication core that will disable the terminal when plugged in. Flying the core with Kyle’s Green Lantern powers would be too risky, as they will get detected by anti-air batteries. They soon after encountered Locrix resistance and they battled them. Kyle got separated from Major Valyor’s team when he got overwhelmed by the Locrix. Kyle disabled the Locrix that attacked him… but he heard a person coughing inside the chest cavity. He opened the chest, and found a humanoid alien piloting the machine. The person inside surrendered, and Kyle asked what they were doing inside. The person, named Rynoc, is from the planet Tamaran. The Tamaranean people are facing extinction at the hands of the The Quorum for refusing to bow to them and become their slave caste. They created their battlesuits, The Locrix, to defend themselves as long as they can, but if the eradication core is plugged into the terminal they hid here, on their colony world of Sentien-

Major Force shot a laser into the throat of Rynoc, killing him. Then he blasted Kyle with a larger blast, calling them both “troqs” (a racial slur for non-Irnathians, meaning ‘nothing’). Kyle awoke a few hours later, and flew in the direction of the terminal. He found a city of Tamaraneans slaughtered, and only a few survivors hiding from Major Force’s team. At the terminal, Major Force plugged the eradication core into it and set a 10 minute (Earth standard) countdown. Green Lantern attacked and knocked out Myall and the other members of the team before confronting Major Force. Major Force admitted to Green Lantern that the Quorum had been lying to all Irnathians, and to the Lanterns, about the true nature of The Locrix, and the truth is that they, and he, feel that the Tamaraneans are genetically inferior and should either “serve or die”. Major Force and Green Lantern battled, and our space-cop won after throwing Force into the core, which disabled it. Major Force lost his arm, but was still willing to fight and kill Kyle for ‘standing up for the filthy troqs’. Then, more Green Lanterns warped in and told Major Force that Kyle recorded what he saw and what the 'good Major' had said and broadcasted it to them. Ganthet was there, and he told him the Guardians will do everything in their ability to protect the Tamaranean people from Irnathia and The Quorum. Major Force vowed revenge on Kyle Rayner, and escaped in an explosion of light.

After this ended, the Spectrum Lanterns placed outposts on Tamaran, Sentien, and other Tamaranean colony worlds, and imposed sanctions on Irnathia to reduce their military and end their campaign of genocide and enslavement. They even released the recordings of what Major Force said, and the Irnathian people who believed the lies of their government turned against them. Finally, Kyle returned to his training on Oa.

Notes:

* As Kyle Rayner is an artist, his Lantern Device is a pen.

* The character of Myall is based on Amy “Bombshell” Allen.

** Like Major Force, Myall was also a subject of the Silver Shield Project.

* In one scene, Irnathian soldiers can be overheard calling the Locrix, "The Spider Guild".

* The Quorum is a human government agency in the original comics.

* Tamaraneans are humanoid felines in description.

And Major Force here is an amalgam of comics Force and Val-Yor from the Teen Titans cartoon, based on his hatred of Tamaranians.

Yes, and I chose this because Valyor looks kinda like Captain Atom.
