NOTE: So, what if Kopa WAS the main character of TLK 2, instead of Kiara? Well, Kovu would then turn into Kivu, the shy little Outlander girl! A far cry from her boisterous, over-confident alter-ego, eh? And she wouldn't be Zira's secret weapon any more; Vitani would be! Vitani would become a male, and she (he) would be the new Chosen One, destined to kill Simba and his son and take over the Pride Lands in revenge for Scar's death. And Nuka would still be shoved off to the side, poor guy.

I personally prefer Kiara being in TLKII. Kopa not being in it is what makes him interesting to me, it opens up a lot of possibilities for how he could've been woven into the backstory of things, and his disappearance (I REFUSE to believe he actually died...) would explain a lot in the film. He's a fun character to work with, because there's no right or wrong way to have him be in fanfics/fan art.Β

Oh, I agree. Kopa not being there (whether it be because he died or ran away or was kidnapped or whatever) certainly explains why Simba ends up the ultimate helicopter parent in TLK 2. It leaves a lot of room to explore his character. And the author who created Kopa and the TLK: 6NAΒ series had said that it does take place before TLK 2, so obviously SOMETHING happens to Kopa before Kiara comes along. This is just simply a "What-If" to TLK 2, the what-if being what if TLK 2 featured one of Simba's son's (Kopa) instead of Kiara. I have since revisited it and changed Kopa to Chaka hereΒ (Chaka is the deleted brother of Kiara, just in case you weren't aware)Β simply because I like the thought of something happening to Kopa to make Simba become all paranoid and over-protective (also, in my TLK universe, Kopa is older than Kovu, and closer to Vitani in age). In my regular TLK universe, my Kopa is still alive, but in the my AU universe, Kopa dies.
