what's wrong with sound? i know it wasn't used in the show, but if Airbending had a next "level", we thought it was the perfect choice.

Luckybaka I have been working on my own designs for the symbols representing bending types and wanted to know if I could use some of the ones you created in this new chart. Of course I would credit you with the original art for the ones I use in it.
On another note I was wondering what was your thought process behind the metal bending symbol for the bending art? The same question for combustion and spirit.
Did you do any other variations to the plant-bending one? If so what other designs did you think of for it?
Also I would value your input on this endeavor if you wish to give any.

while i'm glad at your enthusiasm for my chart and am glad you ask permission first, i'm gonna have to politely decline your request to use our designs. but i'm sure that if you put your mind to it, you too can make some very creative designs you can call your own.
as for our thought processes:
Metalbending - it's supposed to look like a person that has their eyes closed, with the spiral representing their "inner eye" (kinda like what Toph uses to see).
Combustion - i just wanted something simple looking that looked like i merged the symbols for Air and Fire.
Spirit - if you look closely, you can see that it sort of resemble the yin-yang symbol.
Plant - if we did have any other variations for this one, they are long since gone and i don't have our original sketch sheet.
again, thank you for asking permission first, but i'd love to see some designs of your own if you make any.

I am currently working on my own version of the metal, plant, lightning. Should be done them in a week or so. I love the blood bending symbol it fits very well so I won't even try to redo it. After I do other versions of the ones on the chart I will be moving on to the lesser and new bending styles. So I will keep you posted when they are done. Take it easy!

What would be combustion exactly? How about ash? It can blind and burn and would fit a mix of air and fire bending. :3 I really love this chart, good job on it!

It's quite awesome, I've been trying to come up with something like this for a while (sound was the one missing), but only one question, what's up with combustion? wouldn't it be the same as fire?

That's the problem, I'm making an elemental chart myself based on the japanese system (avatar) but I encounter the same problem, the only thing that comes to mind is plasma (Like "combustion man", the one that shoots with his forehead in the show)

Which one is Blodbending?Lightning-Bending? Is the symbol below Earthbending Metalbending? The symbol with Firebending and Airbending is Smokbending or something else?

This is really cool. I like the sound-bending idea, but i'm confused on some of the others.
How is Combustion, sound, and Snow a part of airbending?
And how would Plant work as earth?

Wouldn't glass bending be a fire/earth combo? And I love what you did with the rest of the chart. As for opposites, I'd say you could use steam bending like Fire Lord Sozan did in Roku's flashback. Not sure about a Air/Earth combo yet.

Glass is also a refined piece of earth just like metal so it would still be classified under a subset of earth bending not a mixture of the two. Heat is used in the production of glass much like metal but not a sustaining force of it thus not apart of fire-bending. Though as the avatar or a earth bender you would be able to Glass-bend which I imagine would be pretty effective in the city due to surplus on windows. Also I would think that glass bending would originate from sand benders becoming professional glass producers and developing it with a bit of help from the "seismic sense". Sand-benders and fire-benders in the glass making business.

That's actually exactly what I was thinking. Sand-benders who are also part-time glass-blowers. They've been around it so much, understanding how it works and whatnot, so they developed the skill.

i guess glass bending could work, but we went with lava because it's basically a mountain on fire (or big earth with fire). there are many different variations when it comes to combining elements, so we chose a select few to put on the chart.

Though it sounds a bit silly I think that having it being called Molten-bending rather than Lava-bending. Molten referring to any liquid like earth through melted means. Where as lava most likely refers to rock being melted but molten would also include metals and other such earthen materials. Just a minor pick at it.

the old version of this chart had ice, but i removed it to make it more "even". it was right between water and bloodbending. unfortunately, i cannot find the old chart or the symbol we made for ice. but it's there. just like sandbending and blue firebending.

Dust storm, blind enemies, infiltrate their lungs, stuff like that, would be my guess. Humans can't live very long if they're inhaling nothing but dust.
