Very nice! Sound is very original!! however it struck me that mud would be a better water earth combination, like in the episode of "the painted lady"

It's wrong. Air and Earth are opposites, not Air and Fire.

i know. and that's why they are opposites on the chart. there is a key in the description for reference.

You know, you could expand each of the elements on this chart one more time. Like you did for the last one. Ice for water, sand for earth, blue fire for fire, and breath for air.

i love them all but what about sand bending?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
redjaypeg In reply to ziriri [2010-08-20 17:10:29 +0000 UTC]
my friend and i thought about it, but decided to leave it out. sandbending is simply bending a smaller version of earth. size does not matter when bending the elements, as you are still just bending that same element, but on a different scale. if it were to appear on this chart, it would just be a sub-form of earthbending, and something like rainbending would be the same for waterbending.

cool never thought about it like that

very nice. In a way, it makes a great deal of sense.
it obviously reads clockwise.
Snowbending requires airbending with the philosophy of waterbending.
Plant bending requires waterbending with the philosophy of earthbending.
Lavabending requires earthbending with the philosophy of firebendng.
Combustion requries firebending with the philosphy of airbending (a slight streatch, but you never know).
Sound bending is the ultimate representation of Airbending, Blood:Water, Metal:Earth, Lighting:Fire.
It isn't a key to elements, its a key to technique.

Wouldn't healing be the ultimate representation of waterbending?
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
HotSpot6 In reply to DeadPegasus [2010-07-15 16:02:44 +0000 UTC]
No, because healing is rather widely used. Or it's more heard-of and commonplace. Ultimate being like, "Wow, you can do that?"

DeadPegasus In reply to HotSpot6 [2010-07-16 11:14:06 +0000 UTC]
I can dig it. That's kinda why I think that breath bending would be the ultimate representation of airbending.

HotSpot6 In reply to DeadPegasus [2010-07-16 23:38:21 +0000 UTC]
All-in-all, there'd be no change because someone's breath is still the same oxygen all around us, except when they're exhaling and it's carbon dioxide. With sound, the Avatar could use this huge explosion attack or something, then bend the sound so it doesn't alert anyone to his position, or bend the sound so it alerts them to a false position.

DeadPegasus In reply to HotSpot6 [2010-07-17 02:40:57 +0000 UTC]
Oh, but think about what he could do with breathbending. He could regulate oxygen intake to his lungs and brain, giving him superhuman reflexes and speed. He could also mess with other people's breath and make them dizzy or pass out.

Hm. I suppose so. Interesting thought.

would a fire bender be able to bend tar or would a earth bender bend tar? is curious.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
redjaypeg In reply to Lunasei [2009-12-13 21:26:57 +0000 UTC]
"Tar is modified resin produced primarily from the wood and roots of pine by destructive distillation under pyrolysis." -Wikipedia
so i guess that means that both earthbenders and firebenders could bend tar since tar is composed earth, but created using fire.

What about Dark and Light Bending? how would those work?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AvatarKiba In reply to Pirato [2009-02-10 01:58:48 +0000 UTC]
Darkness and Light aren't elements (or derivatives); light is a form of energy, and darkness is the distinct absence of that energy. And the only "energy" that can be bent in the Avatar-verse is the energy within the human body*.
*This was used as an a$$pull plot device and deus ex machina so that Aang could incapacitate the Fire Lord without killing him, as per the demands of Moral Guardians.

but imagine being able to bend shadows(Ayala in an Avatar comic) or creating light beams (Kamehameha wave)

I love the center design, but always hated the idea of the human soul being bendable.
And I have too wonder, how is Sound an extension of Air? I get that sound waves have to travel through air to be heard, but theoretically, you could deafen (and/or suffocate) a person just by bending all the air away from their head.

redjaypeg In reply to AvatarKiba [2009-02-09 22:05:11 +0000 UTC]
yea, but you're talking about a show on Nickelodeon. bloodbending was probably the most "graphic" part of the series, and will probably stay that way.

DeadPegasus In reply to AvatarKiba [2009-02-09 21:30:42 +0000 UTC]
Naw, too violent. Me, I always thought that the ultimate airbending skill was breathbending. Think about it. The ability to regulate your oxygen intake. You would never get tired, or even slow down. You could even have superhuman reflexes.

AvatarKiba In reply to DeadPegasus [2009-02-09 22:16:12 +0000 UTC]
Would be very useful, if the human lungs could take it. If you're not careful, you might expand them too far and they just EXPLODE!

DeadPegasus In reply to AvatarKiba [2009-02-09 22:22:03 +0000 UTC]
That's why, just like with bloodbending, it would take a noticable talent to perform.

Also, I think the plant should be mud instead. And I'm a little confused on the combustion.
