Description
A six foot long strip of simple European 4 in 1 = chainmail scarf! It's actually surprisingly warm once you put it on. Handmade by me!Related content

I've been wanting to do that for so long! It came out awesome, have you thought of making one with anodized aluminum? I wanted to make a red and black stripey one, but the rings would be hella pricey so I was thinking of weaving red and black fuzzy yarn through the rings instead, hehe. I love this though, it inpires me to get off my booty and make the one I've been wanting!
Nice work!

Why not make your own rings? When I was in highschool many moons ago, I had a friend that make a hauberk for a history teacher. He ended up buying screen door springs and recruited the rest of us to cut it into rings for him.
You could get some plain Al wire, annodize/color it yourself, and then twist it and cut it into rings. The annondizing isn't as hard as you think, there are lots of DIY instructables on the web. Cheaper than buying factory colored rings...Just labor intensive.

Stripes would be so fun! Maybe one day if I have a huge overstock of colored rings...

That's certainly a different use for chain maille! Is it heavy?

Nope! It weighs like a thick wool scarf.

^^ chainmaille takes the bodytemperature and holds it quite well, be carefull with wind, they get your body colder without you noticing it.

You... You -didn't-...
What size rings are those? They look huge. I honestly have a fit using anything bigger than 1/4"ID 18g, but that's just because I like my stuff to look like it flows, rather than is linked. It also keeps me from attempting huge projects. <.<;

I did! They're 14g 5/16. It's the size I use to make anything that's euro 4 in 1 that's bigger than say, a necklace. I definitely have some much bigger jump rings around here! Haha
