For those who don't know, they're generally either anodized metal (Kind of the same coloring system used for a lot of car parts), usually aluminum but can also be other metals, or copper coated in a thin, flexible layer of color.
theringlord.com is the best place to get colored rings, but a lot of us maillers are trying to figure out how to do it on our own without poisoning ourselves / blowing ourselves up (Anodizing is a -little- unsafe. >.>.

Is it possible to use nail polish then cover it in some arctilic spray of some kind?

Yeah, what's the material used? If it's metal, how did you coloured them?
