Description zurich / switzerland / 1995

update: wow, very honoured to get a DD for this. i may update the print for this one soon, rescanning it at much higher resolution (4000dpi) and making the title at the bottom a bit less...chunky

I've always loved the effect and texture of concrete...
I had been in the Utrecht University Library, and that black concrete is amazing...

I love the texture of the wood in the concrete and you captured it very well...

The contrast and the lines one's eyes follow in this image create a very interesting perspective. Taking the shot at an angle to the building was a wonderful idea. Great work!

Wow, it's so perfect, but the architecture is imperfect [given that you consider constant reptition to be perfect].
Very nice shot, I'm sure it would look great in both colour & monochrome.

This particular piece sticks with me. I've always been a fan of your work, though I've never really said anything. I appologize for that.

I love the toning, the composition, everything. My eye moves around the piece smoothly, and I feel as if I'm part of some weird, futuristic dream, yet its more of a memory of days past.

Maestro Patrick, the master of b&w.
I'd almost say brilliant teamwork between you and the architect, but that would diminish your photo.
Great stuff.
i love the way the concentric circles are interrupted by the one that goes so elegantly off to the right.

Zurich car parks: don't I just have the fondest memories. There was one where I never ever found the exit and always had to wait until someone left and I could follow.
Now this memory has been redeemed

Damn, that's nice. (It's matured like a fine wine, etc.)

Must confess that I was initially more attracted to the 'crossed lines' Zurich shot, but this one booted it neatly in the groin before proceeding to kick it repeatedly in the side of the head for considerably longer that was necessary, according to the on-lookers.

love the lines, concrete is a odd building material, we always seem to make it feel like a bunker...

You know when the doctor asks you to say 'aahhh' and you open your mouth and he puts that thing that to all intents and purposes tastes and looks like an emery board in? Yeah, well that is what this shot reminds me of..in concrete.
