Listening to :Young Lex - Slow ft. Gamaliel Translation
Just a showcase of my character outfits
For participants, especially for Team Mice members. Previously, I’ve drawn the body profile of my OC, Tefenet. Now it is time to move to the next section, where I’ll be explaining about her outfits that she’ll wear in different occasions!
Left to right :
Beach wear
This is what she’ll wear when she is on a beach, A violet bikini with skirt-like cover up at the bottom part (idk what is the exact name of this type of wear. I just drew what directly came to my mind at that time. Also, this one refers to my old drawing of her with a little modification from the previous design Lounging On The Beach ). She also comes up with a beach hat to cover her head from sun ray.
”C,mon guys! The weather is soooo lovely today!”
Underwear
A set of light grey underwear. For this kind of wear, she really prefers a elastic fabric to ease her movement, like cotton.
”Euh….welcome……honestly I didn’t expect you all will come this early”
Sportswear
A bright yellow and white sport shirt and black shorts. Not too tight, but again, flexible enough for her. She usually wears it when she is out for jogging
”A little more stretching should be fine”
Winter/Cold
For this occasion, she has a light blue jacket, pastel brown trousers and boots in her closet. And she will also wear a blue winter cap with ear flaps attached seamlessly. (Have I mentioned that she loves bright and pastel tone colors? )
"Winter isn't bad at all..."
Casual
This is her wear that she commonly uses in most of her activities. Plain white T-shirt, covered with grey and blue lines vest and a skinny jeans. She also equips herself with a waist bag to store her gadgets and valuables. The footwear is an optional thing. She can go either with bare feets for a leisure walk or with that casual shoes in order to get extra grip, like in driving cars and walking on ceramic tiles.
”Dangit! Looks like I need to move to other spot for better sighting.”
Office/Formal
This one has appeared in my “Guess Who” task. A coat with a mix of purple and pink colors, which she paired it with a belt and a silver top. And black trousers for the bottom wear. The fabrics used here is slightly thicker to keep Tef warm in her office as a large coolant system was installed to reduce the considerable heat produced by the holographic machine.
”Back to work…..”
Gala party
She designed for herself a turquoise dress with silver decoration at below that shaped like a tree branch. The design of the dress are inspired from something like this : (www.dhgate.com/store/product/2… ) with an opening on the front right side. She also slings the dress like that way. Note that she also wears a silver liontin, which the same thing that she wears in her office outfit. And for this occasion, she will comes up with a pair of glittering silver formal footwear.
"Looks like they are on the upper floor"
There are so many terms in female fashion. I don't know if I hit it right or wrong here
So, what do you think? Feel free to drop any comment below, and...Enjoy!

Nice!
From your other pictures, it looks like she lives in a place with a humid subtropical climate similar to Charleston, South Carolina or Southern Japan, though her winter clothing seems quite suited (taking into account the fur) for a proper continental winter. So... why exactly?

Thanks! Glad that you love it!
Good question! So, TBH I have never thought about this before.
All of the wardrobes here (especially the winter outfit that you asked about) were just designed for my OC-Training group purpose, to design the series of clothes that your character might wear in different occasions, such as winter. In my story, the place where she live at has the tropical climate, which that must be your source of confusion I assume. Well, there is one possibility that she could wear such clothes : Her job background as an architect may require her to extensively travel to many places for her research and study, which may includes places that may have winter season.
(Apparently, this makes me wondering if it is possible that an island can contain both tropical season on a part and subtropical season on the other side.)

Ok, then!
Keeping latitude constant, elevation is the most common trigger of cooler temperatures. Typically with increase in elevation, seasonal temperature variation remains the same. Tropical areas typically have very low seasonal temperature variations. Therefore, by the time you reach the elevation to achieve a real continental winter where such a coat would be useful (typically defined as below 0 °C average for the coldest month), the environment is pretty much unlivable. Notice how you almost never see a picture from tropical mountains that has both snow cover and trees.
The border between subarctic (where generally trees can grow and agriculture is possible if the frost-free season is not too short) and polar climates is generally defined as where the temperature of the warmest month is 10 °C. Therefore, a climate must have at least 10 °C seasonal temperature variation in order to have continental winters and remain habitable for most people.
The border between tropical and subtropical climates is typically defined by an 18 °C average in the coldest month. An average summer temperature of 28 °C is found in many tropical (and subtropical) areas. However, for some reason the highest average temperature I've ever seen for any HHR ("hot, humid, and rainy") month in any place on Earth is 30 °C. If I did a more meticulous search, there may be one of 31 °C, but I doubt any higher.
Assuming a relatively risk-free tropical rainforest climate (where rainfall is relatively evenly distributed throughout the year), it seems that the maximum possible seasonal temperature variation at high altitude is about 13 °C*. So, it would indeed be possible for Tefenet's coastal city to have a Miami-like tropical climate while inland and say 3000 m up there's a village having a climate like Iceland or the Tierra del Fuego. Due to its climate and presumably different culture—presumably with high winter precipitation leading to skiing being prominent—it would probably have markedly different architecture, which would be good for her.
BTW, I really liked architecture and wanted to be an architect when I was younger.
*Tropical and subtropical locations with summer dry seasons (e.g. India and the American Southwest) can have much higher average summer temperatures, though as precipitation heavily varies with elevation the seasonal temperature variation could decrease with elevation. Also, average high temperatures are much more strongly affected than average low temperatures, which could lead to "Bodie Syndrome", where the winters are continental, but the summer has such a daily temperature variation that there is effectively no frost-free season, making it inhospitable for anyone but plucky miners.

Oh boy, that's a lot of information! Have never realized that climate distribution would be that complex. This will be very helpful for my world building, especially for setting the geographical aspect.
Damn, at this point, maybe I need to redesign my world setting again after knowing this......
But thanks anyway for the info!
(BTW about the possibility of two kind of climate can exist in a relatively close distance, that could serve as another reason of Tefenet's winter outfit. But still, I haven't thought much about the implementation of it in the story lore. But for the rest of her outfits is still her active sets, I can assure that )
I also have to say that I'm fascinated with the depth of your knowledge! Seeing through your gallery full of climate related thing like the demographic map, etc. I'm sure that you have a large obsession about it. What encourages you to learn about all of that stuffs?

Yeah, I was thinking on shortening it, but I didn't want all that extra text to go to waste. And yes, climate distribution is complex, which is why it's so interesting to me.
Don't worry: as long as where she lives is at the edge of the tropics (~18-25 ° latitude, to create the necessary seasonal temperature variation, for slightly hotter summers and cooler winters than equatorial tropical climates), has relatively constant precipitation throughout the year, and is nearby a mountain range, you won't need to change the setting to have a snowy forested mountain village at the same latitude she can travel to.
This describes my motivations very well. Anyway, glad to be of assistance.

That's quite a simple reason to love about climate stuff, but well, as long that you love it!
Perhaps I just need to rethink about new mountain region in my setting to achieve that condition then Looks like I have the plan in my head at the moment thanks to you.....

BTW, I finally found a real-life tropical climate that's especially suitable for grading with elevation into one with relatively cold, very snowy winters and summers mild enough to support trees and agriculture. Specifically, that of Green Canyon 184, an oil platform located off the Gulf Coast of Louisiana. Here is it in comparison to a couple of other relevant locations to you and me. (Sorry for the length, and responding to an old comment that may not be relevant anymore. )
It has nice winters comparable to an Irish summer, cooler than that of most tropical climates but still warm enough for most tropical vegetation to thrive. It's summers... well, I remember a minor meme a few years ago about how Bekasi was so hot it can't be on Earth. As you see, it has the same kind of summer daytime heat that Bekasi does, but with little relief at night. In fact, the average low for its warmest day is 85 °F (29.(4) °C), above that of any climate I've ever seen except extreme hot deserts. So yeah, probably not conditions that you, me, or Tefenet would want to sleep under.
But as said earlier, such variation is the key—lowering summer temperatures would prevent tree growth or agriculture in areas which would receive cold and snowy weather, while keeping seasonal variation constant and reducing summer temperatures (currently with an average for the warmest day of 87 °F (30.(5) °C)) would also result in winters at sea level which would be too cool for some tropical vegetation to grow.
As it stands, at treeline altitude the coldest day of the year would have an average high of 32 °F (0 °C) and an average low of 25 °F (-3.(8) °C). Record lows would be very roughly around -5 to 10 °F (-20.(5) °C to 12.(2) °C). With such temperatures and with orographic precipitation estimated by a vapor pressure approximation, up to 4 meters of wet snow could fall in an average January alone, with a total annual snowfall of 10+ meters (though the actual total is likely to be lower as precipitation typically starts decreasing on tropical mountain slopes at an elevation below where the summit would be). That's a lot, even adjusted for that latter factor. Most ski resorts don't even get that much. So there.
Now, a geographical divergence would have to exist to explain such a treeline climate existing. In this case, however, such a divergence would be rather simple: Have a huge honkin' hot spot volcano vomit up an island in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico! It's still a divergence, though, so you'll have to decide if you want a fully geographically real Earth or not. For real Earth, Fan Si Pan in Vietnam or Yushan in Taiwan could work, though with lower seasonal differences and less even precipitation (biased to the summer) it will be less impressive, especially as there are no native hardy treeline species.
Or, you know, just make Tefenet travel longer distances between sites. That may be easier.

Tefenet certainly has a wardrobe that is both wonderfully functional, practical, yet sleekly modern and ideally chic!
Her beachwear fits her so well, the violet color actually with her fur pattern very well!
The Sportwears is perfect- esp. with the shorts- ideal for jogging (jogger myself)!
The Wintercoat is perfect- coats with lining are perfect for warmth and movement. And the color goes so well with her hair and fur- plus the hood, the pants and the fleece-trimmed boots are ideally complementary.
Her casual wear is nice balance of looking business-like enough for her work, yet informal enough to wear through any task or obligation for the day- work, shopping, attending a lecture, going to an event in town. The footwear is realistic detail- no doubt driving and tiled pavement would be more difficult to walk on, given her anatomy. The addition of the waist-bag (waist-pack) fits with her active lifestyle.
The thicker material for her office wears makes sense- even so, it still looks flexible and chic. Tefenet has an excellent sense of color coordination! The black, the pastels, and the modern "chrome/silver/platinum" all combine perfectly!
For the Gala outfit, Tefenet looks absolutely stunning! The aquamarine/sea-green color just glows with such a dazzling hue! And the cut and seam of the dress definitely flatter her form and posture. The silver foot-wear (I guess you could call them spats, as they look like spats?) is a luxurious detail!
She has a wonderfully modern and innovative array of wardrobe!

Spats? That could be suitable name for it. Maybe spats with sole would be more precise as the bottom part touches the ground

It's always wonders me for this kind of character species- does that mean they have a hole on their pants for their tail? It would be interesting to see how the back of her outfit looked like
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ReduxBlack In reply to Tris-Ghost [2018-03-02 08:30:39 +0000 UTC]
Good question.
Well, In my style, It surely does have. Usually the tailor will adjust the hole to fit the tail properly and cover the possible opening (I think you can imagine it). But then the question is, how the anthroes will wear the pants? They can't wear it like the way we use it. Just put your legs inside, pull it up, and voila? So you place the tail above the pants? It might work for some species like canines and felines (which are quite mainstream species to be used), but how about the kangaroos?
Anthroes need to place their tail too. But dont expect that they will put it in like wearing socks, especially if the tip is much larger, such as birds, marine species like dolphins and sharks and else. Crocodiles scales will also wear down the fabric quickly if they wear it like that way. So there is a kind of gap on the backside of the pants to accommodate the tail. And you can secure it with various kind of buttons, buckles, velcros, zippers or hooks and with addition of belts if necessary.
How about dresses like the the right one there? Well, there is no such a hole like that on that dress. Maybe you are worried about the opening that created below her tail then. But don't worry, both side of the dress are connected with the same material that I mentioned before. In this case, it uses velcro It's quite a hassle, you think? of course yes!
Again, it's depend on the style that you want to use. You want to draw anthroes without tails to avoid such things like this? No problem! Or you want to maintain the tail feature but without such pants problem? Well...up to you. I know an artist that draws like that way.
But hey, maybe later I can show you the sketch of it, when I have enough leisure time. But those college tasks.....
Maybe that's all that I can explain
Fun fact : Bucks and mountains goats hardly wear T shirt lol

Tris-Ghost In reply to ReduxBlack [2018-03-05 17:57:51 +0000 UTC]
Which means most clothes are tailored for specific species.
Didn't expect you to actually thought this far, I never make an anthro character since I never really know how to dress them properly like- dress them to make it look like it make an actual sense than just randomly stick their tails on their pants.
I think I would be more interested to see you sketching some clothing designed for species with big tails- like marine species, or those with needles on their back like porcupine for example (can they even wear clothes??)

ReduxBlack In reply to Tris-Ghost [2018-03-05 18:18:19 +0000 UTC]
Righttt...
Well, since this is a fictional story, so the fictional science applies. But I prefer to maintain any technical appliances make sense, like in clothes, furniture, and every objects in my universe. Although most don't, but that's fine to me.
For porcupines, i would like to assume that their needles on their back degraded into smoother hair, but it may be still much rigid that normal furs. And talking about marine species, I have done a shark character in 4th round of OC-Training, but later, i'll sketch her in much improved style and the clothing for her tail

That is a smart design -- to keep her clothes simple, when her natural coat it so embellished! Patterns would look muddled on her, so the solid colors are much better. The simple cuts also shows an easy-going side to her nature, I think.
