Description
Decided to take another go drawing Sherlock and Watson, gain. Sherlock for the 4th and Watson for the 2nd. Out of all the ones I've done, I really like these so far.I could have done better on the poses though. I feel like they are leaning a bit too much. Here was the last time I tried drawing these two. www.deviantart.com/reggiejwork…
This was done using pen and ink with colored pencils.

Hello, I'm from Project Comment and I'd like to congratulate you on creating such a fresh but faithful take on The Great Detective. I really adore your take on Sherlock in particular. Too many recent adaptations have latched onto portraying him as a humourless, detached superhuman with none of the humanity Conan-Doyle gave him. Here you captured the more laid back, playful side of Holmes that's been lost over the years. Many of the earlier illustrations from the books make him look like a bit of a Dandy, which you evoked here. We get a sense of his intelligence and cunning but not to the point where it's alienating.
Watson strikes a good balance between the one from the novels and subsequent adaptations. The soft colours of his hair and waistcoat along with the round lines of his face and body make him look inviting and approachable as later adaptations have made him. But his sturdy, well-built frame fits a veteran of the Afghan wars.
Your use of colour is well selected. It's vibrant and eye-catching, but also soft and easy on the eye, evoking the feeling of a Victorian illustration. There are some issues with the proportions however. The legs on both of them look a bit short compared to their bodies. Aside from that you did a great job of capturing the spirit of DOyle's Holmes with a style that's all your own.

Wow! Thanks a lot for this review! Yeah, I really did want to make these designs stand out from the dry typical portrayals of these two characters, especially Sherlock. I'll definitely keep an eye for the proportions on legs in the near future. Thanks again!
