Presenting the Midway verse RIS Imperator! In the Midway timeline the Condor class cruiser was the flagship of the Romulan Star Empire in the mid-23rd century. Through its history the Romulan Star Empire had always keenly felt the lack of natural resources when compared to its rivals. Its strength had been in the intelligence and cunning of its people, and they technology they created. Over the last decade this advantage had been suddenly been ripped away. It had began when the Federation had introduced the Malachowski class starship in 2241. This “frigate” class caused a sudden and massive power-shift in the quadrant, it was faster, more agile, and possessed more firepower than any cruiser. This was thanks to a new “Kelvin Technology.” This was made worse when the Klingon Empire began debuting warships with similar tech several years later. By 2253, Romulan leadership was growing desperate, as both of the Empires main rivals left it behind technologically. It was at this time the Klingon Empire introduced its new generation of battlecruiser, the D7 Warbird class and Starfleet was finishing construction on its the Nimitz class Dreadnought. Romulan Shipyards were tasked with building a new flagship class to help the Star Empire remain in the balance of power. The Result was the Condor class. A dual-hulled 285m behemoth launching in 2257 with an array with disruptors, two experimental plasma torpedo launchers and a cloaking device. The Condor would be the Empires secret weapon in Operation Cracked Talon, the plan to cause a Federation-Klingon war.
