I'm currently working on Chespin and Fennekin's lines at the moment, but it will be a bit longer before those are finished. I still have two exams that I should be revising for and lots of errands to run. Thought I'd upload the Froakie line since I finished it rather than waiting until they were all done.
As per usual, you can find my other realistic PokΓ©mon sketches and drawingsΒ here.
I based these guys on a mix of Poison Arrow frogs and Asian Horned Frogs. I shifted Greninja's anatomy a little so that it could even stand up on its hind legs at all, and tried to retain that angular look that it has.
Anyway back to exam revision (sigh). These were done with Photoshop CS5 and a Wacom Cintiq 24 HD in a couple of hours.

These are wonderful designs! My only qualm is that Greninja doesn't look like the facultative quadruped it seems to be in the games.

Greninja is actually more bidpedal in the games but crouches on all fours like a ninja. My version would easily be able to jump and move on all fours, I just wanted to depict it in a standing up pose since it (and the other gen 6 starter evos) are depicted as rather humanoid to fit in with their rpg class theme

I haven't been really up to date with the newest pokΓ©mon, but I take it this is the water starter for X and Y?
I love how dynamic his body looks like and how correctly the anatomy is (frogs and anphibians in general prove hard to draw since they lack a skeleton... at least for me they prove to be a chalenge

Well they do have skeletons, just thin and strange anatomy. But yes they are harder to correctly draw with out trouble. Especially ones that need stand with more human like pose's like poke'mon.
